What is an infant rash? These are skin lesions that may appear in the form of a hives or a skin eruption. There may be only one lesion, but in some cases there are many more lesions. The rash can appear anywhere on the body, but the most common location is around the elbows, especially the bends, the knees, and the face. An infant rash can vary in appearance.
A rash in an infant may disappear as quickly as it appeared. There are many reasons for the appearance of urticaria on the child’s body, they may be viral diseases or problems related to improper care of the child’s skin, but a rash in an infant may also signal a more serious illness, so always visit a pediatrician for consultation. ailment.
Rash in an infant – types
- An acute infant rash can last for a very long time, even for a month. Its most common cause is the body’s contact with inhalation and food allergens, but also as a result of an allergic reaction to a specific component of the drug. With this type of rash, other symptoms may also appear, for example abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.
- Chronic rash in an infant is diagnosed less frequently than other types of rash. It is a condition that lasts up to 4 weeks. The cause of these skin lesions may be inhaled allergens, but most of all, the main cause are food allergens. The only way to remove the symptoms is to eliminate the factor that contributes to the triggering or exacerbation of allergy symptoms.
- Dermographism, i.e. a rash caused, for example, by intense rubbing or pressing of the skin. Blisters and blemishes often take the shape of a given stimulus. Dermographism causes changes to persist for several minutes, but in some cases even several hours.
- Contact rash in an infant. It can occur in two forms: allergic and non-allergic. This type of rash occurs when the skin comes into contact with a different type of allergen. Of course, the eruption appears where the allergen comes into direct contact.
- A rash may appear, for example, as a result of intense psychogenic sweating. Small blisters may appear on the skin with persistent scratching, which in turn can lead to skin inflammation. The rash in an infant appears on the back, arms, back, armpits, and chest. This kind of rash disappears very quickly.
- There is also Urticaria vasculitis, i.e. skin lesions, in addition to which there are other types of symptoms, such as pain in the joints, bones and abdomen. In extreme cases, there may even be complications and side effects in the area of the kidneys.
- A physical rash in an infant is one of the less serious ailments for a child’s health. It occurs as a result of the negative influence of weather conditions on the child’s body, e.g. heat, cold or sunlight.
What is serum rash? Its main cause is an allergic reaction to penicillin, anti-tetanus serum or an ingredient of another drug. In this case, only skin changes appear, but also higher temperature, nausea, vomiting, joint pain, abdominal pain and proteinuria. Regardless of the cause or the size and intensity of the rash in an infant, it must be consulted with a pediatrician who, in addition to a detailed interview, should also order tests for a complete morphology, for example.
