When a woman is in an interesting position, the load on her cardiovascular system increases significantly. Possibly a rapid heartbeat during pregnancy, which is otherwise called tachycardia. If the normal heart rate is 60–90 beats per minute, then with tachycardia, the rhythm increases to 100 or more.
Tachycardia is a serious pathology that not only negatively affects the woman’s condition, but can also negatively affect the development of the baby in the womb. When the first symptoms appear, it is important to consult a doctor promptly.
The main manifestations of tachycardia include:
- chest pain;
- increased heart rate;
- dyspnea;
- nausea, vomiting;
- headache;
- feelings of anxiety and fear.
A woman can hardly endure even those physical activities that previously seemed insignificant to her. Fainting and numbness of certain parts of the body are possible.
The causes of tachycardia are different. These include:
- hormonal changes in the body;
- malfunctions of the thyroid gland;
- overdose of vitamins or their individual intolerance;
- exacerbation of chronic ailments – anemia, asthma;
- smoking, drinking alcohol, etc.
Often the stress that a woman experiences in a position leads to the appearance of a problem.
How to calm your heart palpitations during pregnancy?
Tachycardia requires compulsory treatment. If you see signs of a problem, report them to your healthcare team. Depending on the cause of the disease, you will be prescribed drugs that will not adversely affect the fetus. If the case is mild, the doctor may simply advise you to stop eating certain foods or control your weight.
According to experts, a rapid heartbeat that occurs in pregnant women from time to time is normal. The heart works harder to keep blood flowing to the fetus.
If you feel unwell, take the following measures:
- sit down, take a comfortable position, try to relax;
- drink a glass of water;
- close your eyes;
- release tension through meditation, you can just slowly count to ten.
Often, such simple actions are enough to normalize the heart rate. If the measures taken do not help or if tachycardia attacks follow you constantly, be sure to consult a doctor.
