Rantudil – what is this medicine and what is it used for?

Rantudil is an anti-inflammatory drug containing non-steroidal substances. Its active substance is acemetacin, which significantly prevents inflammation in the human body. After taking Rantudil, the active substance is released slowly.

Rantudil – how it can be used, i.e. indications and contraindications

Rantudil is indicated in cases of osteoarthritis, pain in the sacro-lumbar region and in postoperative pain. Rantudil should not be usedif you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine. Also in people suffering from peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum, with disorders of the haematopoietic system, it should not be used Rantudil. In pregnant women, the drug must not be used in the third trimester. Medicines containing acemetacin should also not be used during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. While breastfeeding you should not take Rantudil.

Warnings in the use of Rantudil

Administration of Rantudil cautiously recommended, especially for certain diseases. In such situations, the possibility of performing additional tests is not ruled out. On side effects of Rantudil mainly the elderly are at risk. The use of the drug should be consulted with a doctor.

Rantudil – how to dose?

Rantudil preparation is in the form of prolonged-release capsules to be taken orally. Therefore, do not exceed the daily dose recommended by your doctor. Adults usually take 1 capsule (90 mg) 1-2 times a day. If necessary, your doctor may increase the dose to a maximum of 3 daily. Capsules Rantudil should be taken with a meal.

Rantudil and drug interactions

In case of taking Rantudil may occur interaction with other substancese.g. phenytoin, cardiac glycosides, lithium, diuretics, antihypertensive drugs, corticosteroids, inhibitors, methotrexate, anticoagulants. Receiving Rantudil excludes the consumption of alcohol at this time.

Rantudil and side effects

Side effects while taking Rantudil occur, but not always. If they do occur, they are most often: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea. Sometimes also: indigestion, loss of appetite, ulceration. Even less often when used Rantudil dizziness, insomnia, hallucinations, convulsions, palpitations, hypertension occur.
