Among the early varieties, the French breakfast radish is the best. Its roots are cylindrical and red in color with a white tip. The pulp has a pleasant taste without bitterness and a uniform consistency. This variety is suitable for re-sowing. It grows well in loose and light soil. In acidic soil, radishes can be damaged by acid, therefore, preliminary liming is necessary.
The mid-season variety “Duro” forms large rounded roots with a thin tip. The taste of the fruit is sweetish with bitterness. The texture is dense and crispy. Radish grows well in loose soil in sunny areas. Plant care involves:
- loosening the soil – destroys weeds and saturates the earth with air;
- watering – daily during the dry season;
- top dressing – it is better to use urea.
With regular care, up to 3 kg of the crop can be harvested from a meter.
Variety “Red giant” belongs to the late and grows best in greenhouses. The length of its leaves can exceed 30 cm. A large root vegetable grows up to 20 cm. It has an oblong shape with a narrow tip and a bright one-time color. When growing in a greenhouse, it is important to ventilate it after watering. This will prevent the plant from rotting.
These radish varieties are most in demand. They are distinguished by high quality, yield and rich taste of root vegetables.
