Rabies

General description of the disease

Rabies is an infectious disease that occurs when the Rabies virus enters the wound through the bite of a sick animal. Both animals and people can get sick.

On average, the incubation period in humans lasts from 7-9 days to 45-50 days. It all depends on where the bite was (the closer to the head, the faster the symptoms begin to manifest).

There are 2 types of rabies:

  • natural – foci of the disease are formed by wild animals: foxes, wolves, jackals, raccoon dogs, mongooses, skunks, bats, polar foxes;
  • urban – the formation of foci occurs due to infection with the virus of domestic animals and livestock: domestic cats, dogs, agricultural animals, domestic hamsters, rats.

The main cause of rabies is a virus that is secreted from the saliva of a sick animal. Also, during clinical examinations, Babesha-Negri bodies are found in the brain tissues. Rabies can also be detected through laboratory reactions, due to the detected changes in nerve tissues – the so-called vacuolization.

Rabies symptoms depending on the stage of the disease:

  1. 1 Prodromal – the patient has severe headaches, increased fatigue, low appetite and high fever. The duration of this stage is up to 4 days. Additional symptoms may be added to the main symptoms: increased sensitivity of the skin, trembling and tingling in muscle tissue, neuralgia of the nerves that are located at the site of the bite.
  2. 2 Stage of excitement – from time to time there are attacks of arousal of the psyche and motor skills of a person, namely: excessive sensitivity to external stimuli (bright light, noise, various sounds), body temperature reaches 40 degrees, the patient behaves aggressively, suffers from convulsions, paralysis, paresis, may be delirious. Behavior can be violent or, conversely, depressed due to the feeling of fear. This stage lasts about a week.
  3. 3 Stage of paralysis – to all of the above symptoms, you can add disorders of swallowing and respiratory functions, paresis of the facial muscles and nervous tissue, diplopia, profuse salivation with foam from the mouth, half of the patients are observed rabies (popularly called rabies).

In general, the disease lasts 1,5-2 months, maybe more (these are extremely rare cases). The lethal outcome occurs due to respiratory arrest, which occurs due to a violation of the functioning of the respiratory system.

Healthy foods for rabies

Since the virus is transmitted through the saliva of a sick animal and falls into the bloodstream, products that purify the blood are needed – these are:

  • vegetables, fruits and red berries: tomatoes, cabbage, peppers, beets, pomegranates, grapefruit, raspberries, wig, apples, grapes, plums, chokeberry, viburnum;
  • garlic and all greens (especially spinach);
  • any nuts;
  • fish (preferably fatty varieties);
  • freshly squeezed juices and green tea.

With the development of paralysis, difficulty in respiratory function and increased salivation, food should be easily digestible and rubbed into gruel or puree.

Also, the patient may develop hydrophobia (even at the sight of a glass of water, there is strong anxiety and a feeling of fear), but under no circumstances should one not give water (it must be drunk at least 1,5 liters per day).

The patient’s immunity should be increased, more foods with vitamins and minerals should be given. The higher the immune system, the more the body will fight the virus.

Folk remedies for the treatment of rabies

  1. 1 After the animal has bitten, in no case stop the bleeding, on the contrary, let the blood flow for a while. This measure is necessary so that the virus does not enter the bloodstream and begin to be absorbed into the body. Then, lather the bite with soapy water. Treat the diameter of the wound with iodine, brilliant green, a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Give a sedative to relax the nervous system. Visit the bathhouse (with sweat a lot of harmful substances come out).
  2. 2 It is necessary for a month to drink decoctions of herbs and preparations that purify the blood – nettle, St. John’s wort, immortelle, burdock, dandelion.
  3. 3 Seek medical attention for tests and rabies shots.

These are the first and most urgent steps to be taken. The following recipes help directly against rabies:

  • For 2 liters of water, put 4 tablespoons of sorrel root (horse, washed, peeled, dried). Boil for 15 minutes. Drink 3 glasses a day.
  • Lotion of garlic and dope leaves. Take these two components in equal parts, grind, mix well. Apply to the wound a couple of times a day until it is completely healed.
  • For a month and a half, drink 1,2 liters of broth per day, an infusion of the leaves and flowers of the dyeing gorse.
  • A decoction of meadowsweet (meadowsweet) is drunk three times a day for 1/3 cup. Also, you can apply compresses to the wound in the interval of 2 hours.
  • Good means in the fight against rabies will be the roots of cyanosis, cocklebur (and any of its parts – seeds, root, stem), dope leaves and roots of the Baikal skullcap.

Dangerous and harmful products in rabies

After the patient has been vaccinated against rabies, he should not drink alcohol for 6 months (even in very small doses).

It is worth taking care of your gastrointestinal and respiratory functions. Do not eat excessively salty, fatty, fried foods.
