The autumn cold is a stuffy nose, a sore throat, a feeling of weakness and often watery eyes or fever. Such symptoms make you lose your appetite for everyday activities and all you want to do is lie in bed. The following remedies will make your cold go away quickly and painlessly this fall!
- It is worth using natural recipes for colds. Some of them are warming spices such as ginger, turmeric, pepper, chilli, cinnamon and cloves. You can add them to drinks, but also soups or meats. It is especially worth taking an interest in typical autumn vegetables. Nothing warms you up like pumpkin soup or tea with plum jam. But be careful – let’s make sure that these are products that are easily digested. Beans, peas, cabbage or fatty meats warm up and add energy, but their digestion takes the body’s strength for a long time, which makes us recover slower.
- It is also a good idea to reach for garlic and onions, which are known for their antibacterial properties. Some even call them natural antibiotics. Homemade cough syrup can be made on the basis of onions. Garlic works well in soups and sauces. An effective, although not very pleasant in taste, remedy for a cold is warm milk with honey and garlic.
- A good way to quickly cleanse the lungs and nose are inhalations based on salt water or herbal infusions. Just pour boiling water into a bowl and cover your head with a towel over the bowl and then breathe deeply for several minutes. Such inhalations can be repeated several times during the illness.
- It is also good to reach for menthol or eucalyptus ointment, which will support the work of the lungs and speed up getting rid of a runny nose. Such ointments should be massaged into the back and chest. You can also lightly rub them on the surface under the nose, which will make it easier to breathe.
- During a cold, the body needs to regenerate and one of the easiest ways to regenerate is sleep. That’s why it’s important to get at least 8 hours of sleep a day when you have a cold. If we have trouble falling asleep, we should drink calming drinks in the evening that also work well for a cold, such as chamomile or milk with lavender or ginger honey.
- If you have no choice but to leave the house during a cold, it is worth remembering a few rules. First, dress in layers and warmly, protecting your hands, feet, neck, and head. During your stay outside, it is worth reaching for warm, warming drinks – tea from a thermos or a restaurant.
