Pyrosal

Pyrosal is a dietary supplement in the form of a syrup traditionally used as an aid in colds, inflammation of the upper respiratory tract and in low-grade fever. It is available in pharmacies without a prescription.

What is the composition and action of the Pyrosal dietary supplement?

Pyrosal contains plant extracts of willow bark, elderflower, linden inflorescence, dry extract of acerola fruit and burdock leaf, liquid extract of elderberry fruit, natural concentrate of blackcurrant fruit and condensate of aroma of currant juice. The syrup also contains 1% ethanol. Pyrosal ingredients have antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and slightly expectorant properties. Linden, elderberry and marshmallow extract contain rutoside to support the immune system. Elderberry fruit extract is rich in anthocyanins and polyphenols. Acerola extract and blackcurrant juice are a huge dose of vitamin C. Lime inflorescence and lilac flower support the processes of sweating and removing toxins from the body. Marshmallow root extract moisturizes the throat mucosa and improves the functioning of the respiratory system.

When is the Pyrosal dietary supplement used?

Pyrosal is used as an aid in low-grade fever, colds and inflammation of the upper respiratory tract.

Dosage of Pyrosal

Pyrosal syrup can be given to children from 3 years of age. Due to the low content of ethanol in it, always consult a doctor before administering the drug. Children from 3 to 4 years old are given Pyrosal 4 times a day, 1 teaspoon, i.e. about 5 ml of syrup. The syrup can also be diluted in a little water. Children from 4 to 12 years of age should take 1 table spoon (about 15 ml) of Pyrosal syrup 3 times a day. In the case of adolescents over 12 years of age and adults, 2 tablespoons of syrup are used 3 times a day. Pyrosal preparation can be taken by vegans and vegetarians. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose of the syrup.

Contraindications to the use of Pyrosal syrup

Pyrosal should not be taken by people who are allergic to any of the ingredients of the preparation.

Possible side effects of the Pyrosal dietary supplement

No major side effects of Pyrosal syrup have been reported. In the case of people who are hypersensitive to any component of the preparation, allergic reactions may occur. People who are intolerant to sucrose (the syrup contains a large amount of this sugar) may react with nausea and problems with the digestive system.

Precautions when using the Pyrosal dietary supplement

Patients intolerant to certain sugars should consult a doctor before taking Pyrosal syrup. The syrup contains up to 65 mg of ethanol in one teaspoon, which should be borne in mind if you intend to drive or operate machinery after taking it. This amount of ethanol does not significantly affect the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery, however, when taking a larger dose of Pyrosal syrup, you should take into account that such activities should not be performed for some time after taking the drug. Before using Pyrosal, inform your doctor about all medications taken at the same time, including those available without a prescription. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, consult your doctor about the use of Pyrosal. Store the syrup in a tightly closed container, out of the reach of children and do not use it after the expiry date. No dietary supplement, including Pyrosal, can be used as a substitute for a healthy and varied diet.
