Purulent inflammation of the sweat glands in the armpit is caused by staphylococci, which penetrate the sweat glands, causing inflammation in them and in the surrounding connective tissue.

A red, painful lump forms in the skin of the armpit with inflammatory infiltration of adjacent tissues. Sometimes the inflammatory infiltrate is sucked in, more often an abscess is formed. Usually, multiple sweat glands become infected and several nodules of inflammation form. Infection of the sweat glands of the armpit is favored by sweating and non-compliance with personal hygiene. Therefore, people working in warm and humid rooms should wash their skin frequently with warm soapy water, periodically rubbing it with 2% salicylic alcohol.

Treatment

In the initial stage of inflammation, we use warming compresses. During this time, irradiation with a quartz lamp and solux as well as sulfonamides can also be used. Hair should be shaved.

In the later stage of the infiltration softening, when there is pus, one should not wait for the abscess to rupture itself, but undergo immediate surgery, which consists in incision of the purulent foci. Sometimes it is necessary to use antibiotics. The doctor must decide on their choice and the course of the entire treatment.
