Pulling back pain during pregnancy
Pulling back pain during pregnancy occurs in 70% of cases, and expectant mothers are worried about this, not knowing whether it is dangerous for the baby’s health or not. It is impossible to worry in this position, so it will be useful for them to know what causes discomfort and whether they need to see a doctor.
What causes pulling back pain during pregnancy?
Back discomfort occurs due to the development of the fetus and the increase in its weight. The spine and lumbar muscles are under increasing stress, which causes pain. The situation is especially aggravated if a woman walks a lot, stands or sits at a computer. If, before pregnancy, the muscles of her back were weakened, then it becomes even more difficult to withstand the load from bearing the fetus.
Often women themselves provoke pain. Due to the shifted center of gravity, they constantly arch the lower back and slouch, which increases the load on the lumbar muscles. The cause of discomfort is also relaxin, a hormone that relaxes the sacral cartilage and ligaments to prepare the body for childbirth.
It is dangerous if pulling pains in the lower back are accompanied by additional symptoms. Possible problems:
- the threat of miscarriage – the lower abdomen also hurts, discharge from the uterus;
- inflammation in the genitourinary system – the pain is localized on the one hand, the temperature rises, the urge to go to the toilet becomes more frequent;
- pancreatin – nausea, vomiting, pain under the ribs;
- stones in the bladder or kidneys – acute pain, frequent urination, cramps.
Sometimes a pulling pain appears if the woman has overworked her back the day before, lifted something heavy.
