Puberty in girls

When a little daughter grows up in a family, one involuntarily has to think that very soon she will begin to change and from a charming angel will turn into an adult girl. Puberty is the stage that every person goes through. And if adults know what to expect, then the child will only have to enter adulthood. Therefore, it is necessary that the girl be mentally and physically ready for these changes and meet them without fear.

When it’s time for puberty

The restructuring of the child’s body begins long before the appearance of external changes. The duration of puberty can range from 10 to 12 years. The prepubertal period begins at about 8 years of age and lasts until the first menstrual period.

It is important to provide your child with moral support during puberty.

Despite the early age, periodic releases of hormones are already beginning to contribute to the formation of secondary sexual characteristics. Approximately 2-3 years after their appearance, the girl begins her first menstruation.

If the signs of puberty occur before 7 years of age, then the child may have premature puberty. To confirm the diagnosis and find out the reasons for this phenomenon, it is necessary to contact an endocrinologist and a gynecologist to undergo a medical examination. The same should be done in case of suspicion of a delay in maturation.

Signs of puberty in girls

The signs of a girl’s growing up appear gradually and become more noticeable by the age of 10-11. The main symptoms of puberty are:

  1. Sharp growth spurt – begins 1–3 years before the onset of menstruation. The growth of the child begins to increase from 7 to 10 cm per year. It is for this reason that teens look awkward.
  2. Increasing the oiliness of the skin – due to the increased production of the secretion of the skin glands, acne and pimples appear on it. The oiliness of the hair also increases, so you have to wash your hair more often.
  3. Breast development – the nipples become enlarged and painful, the areola around the nipples becomes larger and darker. The shape and size of the breast depends on hereditary factors and the amount of subcutaneous fat.
  4. Hair growth in the pubic area and underarms. This process begins at the age of 10-12, the color and structure of the hair depends on the genetic characteristics of the organism.
  5. The onset of menstruation is normal, the first discharge begins at the age of 12-14. Since that time, the girl’s growth has slowed down, but otherwise her body is still changing.

Parents need to understand that the transition period is not easy for adolescents, so you need to provide the child with your maximum attention. It is very important that there is a person nearby who can clearly explain and listen to everything in difficult times. Of course, it must be a wise and understanding mother!
