Psychologists called the most destructive type of relationship

In relationships, we often encounter difficulties that affect our emotional state. But which ones are the most destructive? Scientists from the USA have found out.

Researchers from the Universities of Missouri and Illinois (USA), whose article published in Family Relations magazine, for 15 months, data were collected on 545 men and women of various sexual orientations. All of these people who voluntarily agreed to take part in the study were in a romantic relationship during this period.

Participants regularly informed the researchers about all the vicissitudes of their relationship with partners. In addition, they were tested for symptoms of anxiety and depression, as well as their feelings about the relationship and its prospects.

It turned out that the cyclical breakup and reunion in relationships with the same partner is a fairly common phenomenon, with more than 33% of participants talking about such a scenario.

At the same time, it turned out that the more often people converge and diverge, the harder it is reflected in their psyche, both in the short and long term.

As psychologists note, it’s all about the growing sense of chaos, instability in relationships, which leads to the development of depression and anxiety.
