Prunes with nuts in wine – an original dessert dish

An original sweet and sour dessert with light smoked notes, which takes no more than 15 minutes to prepare. Thanks to heat treatment, all alcohol evaporates, so even children can be treated to homemade prunes in wine. This simple appetizer goes well with liqueurs and fortified wines.

The highest quality prunes are medium-sized saturated black with a slight matte tint, but without shine. After touching, it should not leave marks on the hand. These signs indicate proper drying and minimal glycerine treatment for long term storage.

Any cheap wine is suitable for pickling prunes: dry, sweet or semi-sweet. In the last two cases, you can put less sugar. The authors of some recipes advise using white muscat wines, but in this case the dish is not so fragrant.

Ingredients:

  • pitted prunes – 500 grams;
  • peeled walnuts – 250 grams;
  • sugar – 200 gram;
  • red wine – 0,5 liters;
  • whipped cream – 100 ml.

Recipe

2. Put prunes stuffed with nuts in a heat-resistant dish, add sugar and pour wine over.

3. Boil for 10-12 minutes over low heat (alternatively, place the prunes for 50-60 minutes in an oven at 160 ° C), then remove from the stove and leave for 4-8 hours in a dark, cool place.
