Prunes tincture – recipes for vodka, moonshine and alcohol

Moonshine, vodka, alcohol can be cleaned with anything and as much as you like, but they will not become tastier from this. If you do not understand the aesthetics of a pure product, and this is, in general, not a rarity, drink tinctures or liqueurs – preparing them is easier than it might seem at first glance. Try to make a tincture on prunes, and you yourself will understand what we are talking about. It is prepared in an elementary way, all the ingredients are available, and the drink turns out to be at least interesting, but not for everyone.

For reference: prunes are dried plums of any variety, used in cooking everywhere, very popular in the south. In Jewish cuisine, you cannot cook tsimes without this dried fruit, and this is the most … he … In the Scandinavian countries, delicious jelly is cooked from it, which the harsh northerners eat at Christmas with rice porridge, having previously thrown glög.

For tinctures, it is very important to choose good prunes, which you must definitely try when buying. Fruits with a stone are recommended, not too overdried, those in which the stone is easily separated from the pulp. It is not recommended to take too black dried fruits – this indicates the processing of fruits with glycerin to increase the shelf life. Light brown prunes were most likely doused with boiling water before drying, and on the one hand, this is good, because various microorganisms were killed, but on the other hand, such fruits contain fewer aromatic substances (instead of which acrylamide, carcinogen and neurotoxin may appear).

Prune tincture on vodka

This is the easiest, most affordable and popular recipe for prune tincture. Ideal for refining vodka and not quite pure moonshine. You can also use alcohol diluted to 45-50% (you can dilute it using our calculator), which is important for lovers of stronger drinks.

For tincture you will need:

  • 0,5 l of vodka / moonshine / alcohol;
  • 4-5 pcs. prunes with a stone;
  • 1 allspice pea;
  • 1 clove button;
  • 3 black peppercorns;
  • 1-2 g vanillin (at the tip of a knife).

Preparation:

Pepper and cloves are recommended to be crushed with a rolling pin before laying in a jar. Add all ingredients to a liter jar, pour vodka, mix well. The jar should be tightly sealed and sent for 10 days in a dark, cool place. After 10 days, filter the tincture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth, bottle it and let the drink rest for a few days, after which you can start tasting.

You can store tincture on prunes for up to a year or more in the cellar or refrigerator. It has a pronounced taste and aroma of prunes, pepper adds a spicy hot note. The color is beautiful, cognac. However, you should not expect an outstanding taste from the drink. Those who love prunes will like the tincture, those who don’t … understand for themselves. If the taste of the tincture does not seem whole and cloying, wait at least another 10-15 days. Like all fruit and berry tinctures, prunes need time to ripen.

Sweet prunes tincture on moonshine

The recipe is useful for moonshiners who have a large amount of raw materials and no longer know how to surprise their ladies. There are many variations of prunes tincture on moonshine, we share the most neutral one. Instead of moonshine, you can use vodka or alcohol diluted to 45-50%. This recipe requires a lot of patience.

Ingredients:

  • 3 liters of moonshine / vodka / alcohol;
  • 300 g prunes with a stone;
  • 200-250 g sugar.

Preparation:

Put prunes in a three-liter jar, cover with a glass of sugar and pour moonshine to the top. Infuse for 1 month, the first week it is advisable to shake vigorously to completely dissolve the sugar. After a month, strain the tincture through several layers of gauze, bottle it and immediately start tasting it. At the same time, prunes can not be thrown away, but angered again – the second infusion is not so saturated, but it is drunk easily and naturally.

Sugar is successfully replaced with fresh liquid honey, but the tincture will have to be defended and filtered for a long time. You can also add a couple of tablespoons of lime blossom to the drink for authenticity. And if you mix prunes with almonds, oak bark and ginger root, you can get a good imitation of cognac.

We don’t know whether you like the prune tincture or not, but we recommend trying it – in many families this is one of the favorite home-made drinks. At worst, you can be puzzled and find the factory version of the tincture, to which citric acid and cognac are added.
