Prostatitis is an inflammatory disease that affects men of all ages – it can be acute or chronic. The causes of prostatitis are bacteria or other microbes. On the other hand, benign prostatic hyperplasia, popularly known as prostate hyperplasia, occurs in every man after the age of 30. What are the symptoms of these prostate problems? What are the first warning signs every man must know?
- Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men in terms of incidence and mortality
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia (hyperplasia) is the most common prostate disease, mainly in men over 50
- Chronic prostatitis can occur in up to half of men of all ages

Prostate – what is it?
Prostate, prostate or prostate are different names for the same organ. It is part of the male genitourinary system. It is about the size of a chestnut tree and forms a rim around the urethra.
The prostate gland secretes a fluid which, together with the secretion of the seminal vesicles and the sperm, forms sperm.
Prostatitis – symptoms
Prostatitis is inflammation (swelling) of the prostate gland. Although it can affect men of any age, it is more common in men under 50.
Inflammation of the prostate gland can be of two types:
- non-bacterial prostatitis
- bacterial prostatitis
With prostatitis, symptoms can cause long-term pain or discomfort in the penis, scrotum, abdomen, or lower back. You must pay attention to these signs.
To take care of their urinary system, men should reach for Bioherba Oil for him, which is a combination of several oils that improve the functioning of the male body.
With bacterial prostatitis it may be difficult to completely empty the bladder. Additionally, there may be signs of infection, such as fever, chills, or body aches.
- Prostatitis – symptoms, treatment
Symptoms of acute bacterial prostatitis come on suddenly and usually resolve with antibiotic treatment. The most common are:
- perineal pain when sitting,
- fever
- painful pollakiuria,
- burning sensation and purulent discharge from the urethra,
- pain in the perineum, groin, penis, anus, sacral part of the spine,
- urinary retention due to swelling of the gland and pressure on the urethra
In chronic bacterial prostatitis, the symptoms build up gradually and last for several weeks. Belong to them:
- pain in the perineum, external genitalia and womb,
- erectile dysfunction,
- pain when ejaculating
- pain when urinating,
- unpleasant feeling of pressure on the bladder.
If you want to reduce the risk of prostatitis, you can use a pear prostate massager made of high-quality ABS plastic.

Prostate hyperplasia – symptoms
After the age of 30, the prostate begins to grow in almost all men. For some it is faster, for others it is slower. Benign enlargement of the prostate gland increases its size, which can sometimes lead to a narrowing of the urethra, which in turn obstructs the flow of urine. What might be the first signs of problems?
Symptoms of urethral stricture are:
- change in the strength of the urine stream, its weakening or interruption,
- long duration of urine output,
- a feeling of lagging behind after settling down,
- dripping or incontinence.
When the bladder is irritated, pollakiuria occurs, nighttime urination, and sudden pressure on the bladder. The appearance of such ailments should illuminate our warning lamp. In this case, you should always consult a urologist.

Prostate cancer – symptoms
– Benign prostatic hyperplasia, popularly known as hypertrophy and the presence of prostate cancer are two independent things – said in an interview with Medonet prof. Piotr Chłosta, president of the Polish Society of Urology.
– You can have an enlarged prostate with benign hyperplasia combined with difficulties in urinating (although enlargement of the prostate does not always mean difficulties in urinating) and regardless of the presence of a tumor within the prostate – explained Prof. Flogging.
– The incidence of this neoplasm is closely related to age. It will occur in almost every man. But beware, not every man has to leave because of this. The one who is diagnosed with it early and the one diagnosed at a very old age will not go away, but the oncological potential of the disease is not significant. In other words, it is not very extensive and does not have a high degree of malice – said Prof. Flogging.
- Non-obvious symptoms of prostate cancer
– We cannot prevent the occurrence of prostate cancer. But we can prevent the negative effects that are associated with the use of aggressive and “crippling” treatment or the inability to cure, and then only attempts to prolong life and attempts to improve its quality remain – adds the urologist.
The first symptoms of prostate cancer are:
- pollakiuria,
- urgent pressures,
- painful micturition,
- residual urine.
As cancer develops, other symptoms may include:
- pains in the perineum and behind the pubic symphysis.
- hydronephrosis (when the neoplastic infiltration crosses the prostate capsule and spreads into the smaller pelvis),
- kidney failure
- swelling of the lower limbs as a result of the tumor pressing on blood and lymph vessels,
- haematuria (when the infiltration affects the urethra). especially when the infiltration covers the posterior urethra,
- painful ejaculation,
- presence of blood in sperm
- bone pain in the spine, hips and femurs.
Seeing these symptoms, many men – tempted by advertising – reach for supplements to alleviate them. – There is no evidence of the effectiveness of dietary supplements in alleviating symptoms and preventing possible enlargement of the prostate or preventing the presence of prostate cancer. On the contrary, if these preparations can cause a placebo effect, i.e. the feeling that they help, and it does not have to be, they may mask the need to consult a urologist, says Prof. Flogging.

Prostate problems – diagnosis
How is prostate problems diagnosed? There are several ways:
- Assessment of medical and family history
- Physical examination
- Urine test. The urine sample is checked for signs of infection.
- Blood tests. A complete blood count is performed to find out if there is an infection. The level of the PSA antigen is also tested. This antigen is not a tumor marker but a prostate marker.
- Cystoscopy. A tube-like camera is inserted through the urethra to reach the bladder.
- Urodynamic research. Two catheters are inserted into the bladder, one of them is used to fill the bladder with distilled water, and the other one is used to register the pressure in the bladder.
- Ultrasound examination. They can be performed in two ways, through the abdominal wall and through the anus (TRUS). The former is performed when diagnosing an enlarged prostate. TRUS is recommended in the case of suspected prostate cancer and some inflammatory diseases of the prostate
- Prostate biopsy. The material is collected from different areas of the prostate, then a prostate sample is sent to a laboratory to check for the presence of cancer cells.
- Magnetic resonance imaging. It is performed when PSA levels are elevated and also when cancer is suspected.
You can buy a home prostate test for detecting PSA in the blood from Medonet Market.
