Prostate cancer is curable if detected early

The topic raised in the context of Father’s Day is to make the society aware of the important role that a man plays in the family – as the father and guardian of the family. Moreover, it is also a role related to self-responsibility, which should manifest itself in taking care of one’s own health.

One of the goals of this year’s, second edition of the “Prostata na lata” campaign, is to establish Father’s Day 23 June National Day of Prostate Cancer Awareness. Taking advantage of the exceptionally sporting nature of this year, which will be shaped by the European Football Championship, and then the summer Olympic Games in London, actors and journalists – Maciej Damięcki, Jacek Kawalec and Włodzimierz Szaranowicz . The activities focused on sports emotions were also joined by footballers, incl. Maciej Szczęsny and club players, as well as athletes from other fields, such as Leszek Blanik, Olympic champion in sports gymnastics.

“I appreciate the Foundation’s attempt to speak openly about such a difficult topic, primarily because prostate cancer is not a disease that affects one person, but also emotionally affects loved ones. Therefore, I subscribe to the initiative to make Father’s Day the National Day of Prostate Cancer Awareness “- says Maciej Damięcki, actor, privately the father of Matilda and Mateusz Damięcki.

The activities carried out as part of the “Prostate for years” campaign are aimed at breaking the taboo associated with prostate cancer, just as the Amazons did so many years ago in relation to breast cancer. Prostate cancer is curable if it is detected early enough. The topic discussed in the context of Father’s Day is also to make the society aware of the important role that a man plays in the family – as the father and guardian of the family. Moreover, it is also a role related to self-responsibility, which should manifest itself in taking care of one’s own health.

“In our campaign, the most important thing is to reach men and their families with the message that prostate cancer can be effectively treated. We also want to make all fathers aware that regular examinations for male cancers can provide them with long life and time to raise their children “- says Szymon Chrostowski, President of the Foundation.
