Prostamnic is a drug that should only be taken by men. It is used to eliminate the symptoms of a slight enlargement of the prostate gland. Check what you need to know before starting treatment with Prostamnic.
Prostamutes – action
The active substance is tamsulosin, which is an α1-adrenoreceptor antagonist. The drug helps to improve and facilitate the flow of urine by relaxing the smooth muscles of the prostate and urethra. The rectum reduces the symptoms of bladder irritation and reduces the difficulty of urinating.
The maximum concentration of the drug is reached after 6 hours. A meal facilitates absorption. The expected effects of treatment appear after 5 days of use. The substance is digested by the liver, excreted in the urine.
Prostamnics – indications
The drug is used to treat a delicate enlargement of the prostate gland. The preparation reduces the symptoms of the disease.
Before prescribing the preparation, the physician must make sure that the cause of the patient’s symptoms is an enlarged prostate gland. For this purpose, appropriate examinations are performed, e.g. per rectum (one of the basic examinations used in proctology, it is performed with the finger through the anus).
- These are genetic diseases that mainly affect men
Prostamnics – contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the ingredients is a contraindication to the use of the drug. Additionally, they cannot take it:
- children and women – the drug is intended only for men,
- people on whom the operation is planned,
- patients with a CYP3A4 poor metaboliser phenotype.
Prostamutes – special care
There are situations when the patient should exercise extreme caution while taking the drug. They mainly consist in observing the body’s reaction to the drug and possible discontinuation of the treatment and reporting to a doctor. Such situations are:
- severe kidney problems (no studies have been conducted in this group of people),
- cataract surgery – people who have previously taken tamsulosin are more likely to develop postoperative complications,
- persistent low blood pressure – this medicine can lower it even more and make you faint.
So far, no studies have been conducted that would confirm the safety of use in people under 18 years of age. Therefore, it is not recommended to administer Prostamnic to people under 18 years of age.
- Premature ejaculation (ejaculation) – treatment. How to delay?
Prostamnics – side effects
In situations where the patient uses the drug despite contraindications or exceeds the recommended daily dose, side effects may occur, including:
- common: dizziness, abnormal ejaculation, retrograde ejaculation, ejaculation failure,
- uncommon: headache, palpitations, orthostatic hypotension, rhinitis, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rash, pruritus, urticaria, asthenia,
- rare: syncope, angioedema,
- very rare: Stevens-Johnson syndrome, priapism, blurred vision, visual disturbance, epistaxis, dry mouth, erythema multiforme, exfoliative dermatitis. In addition, after marketing the preparation, the following were observed: small pupil syndrome (intraoperative floppy iris syndrome) during cataract surgery, atrial fibrillation, arrhythmias, tachycardia, and dyspnoea.
