We should not go back to lockdown anymore, and we have to try to live a normal life with COVID-19 – said Prof. Magdalena Marczyńska from the Medical Council. In her opinion, if the increases in infections occur in the fall, the restrictions may not apply to the vaccinated again.

– There should be no going back to lockdown strategy. With COVID-19, as with other diseases, you have to try to live a normal life. Of course, some issues may stay with us forever. Masks in closed spaces – especially in the fall and winter season, will rather become the norm. However, we are not in the same situation as last year when no one was vaccinated. Therefore, blocking everything at all should not be considered at all – said prof. Marczyńska, a specialist in childhood infectious diseases.

She added that there is no position of the entire Medical Council on this issue yet, but her opinion on this issue is clear.

  1. I already had COVID-19. Can I get Delta? [WE EXPLAIN]

– We must not undermine the immunization program. If someone, when vaccinated, knew that he would be able to live a normal life, that he would be free from restrictions, it should remain that way. Otherwise, this whole program makes no sense. Vaccinations work, protect us against severe infection and hospitalization. Therefore, if the subject of restrictions comes back, they should not apply to vaccinated people – said prof. Marczyńska.

Experience from other countries has already clearly shown that new infections occur in the vast majority of groups of people who are susceptible to infection, i.e. unvaccinated.

– Of course, we are not omniscient, and there may always be a variant of the virus that completely bypasses current vaccines, but we are not dealing with such a situation right now. So if someone has antibodies as a result of vaccination, or if they have recently contracted COVID-19, they should be able to use all the services offered by various industries. They must not be forgotten either, because + blowing up + specific industries every fall or winter is a disaster for the state, for the economy, for society. We have to accept that COVID-19 will stay with us and try to live a normal life – the expert emphasized.

She pointed out that now comes also the time for individual responsibility. In her opinion, Poles should also understand that one should stay at home with respiratory tract infections – regardless of their origin.

– Let’s heal, then let’s get back to work. And let’s get vaccinated against COVID-19, because it is the best form of health and life protection – said Prof. Marczyńska.
