“There is still some supply of covid beds and we should deal with it, we may be afraid that there will be a shortage of medical staff” – told PAP virologist Prof. Włodzimierz Gut. On March 25, another record for the number of infected was set – 34 people.

The Ministry of Health said on Thursday that 34 new cases of coronavirus infection had been confirmed last day – the highest number since the start of the pandemic, 151 patients have died.

There are 27 patients with COVID-118 in hospitals, which is 19 people more than in the previous day. 607 2 patients require ventilator therapy. The ministry announced that 620 beds and 19 respirators are prepared for COVID-36 patients.

“There is still a supply of covid beds and we should deal with it, we may be afraid that there will be a shortage of medical staff” – said prof. Gut. He added that the restrictions must be strictly adhered to in order not to lead to a further increase in infections.

According to the virologist, there is still too little awareness and knowledge of how to behave when we know that we have had contact with a sick person or have had symptoms of coronavirus infection.

He reminded that the first step in such a case is self-isolation. “Let’s do a test and if the result is positive, let’s undergo home isolation,” he said.

He indicated that molecular tests are the fastest to detect coronavirus infection and that these should be used. They can be done 5-7 days after infection.

  1. Do you suspect that you have had contact with a person infected with the coronavirus? Not sure what the symptoms of infection are and when they can occur? Do you want to take a test? [WE EXPLAIN]

«There cannot be a situation where we go to work, contact people, even though we feel bad because we think it is not COVID-19. Remember that we start infecting the day before symptoms appear. The alarm signal is the fact that we have come into contact with a sick person. If symptoms of infection appear, contact your doctor immediately. The doctor decides whether there are indications for the test and it is he who decides on the treatment method »- he said.

The professor warns against self-treatment, which is often the case. “Then there is a greater chance that we will avoid hospital isolation. We cannot allow the situation where the patient’s condition worsens, has shortness of breath, breathing difficulties, pain symptoms and still does not report to the hospital »- he added.

He stressed that as long as vaccination is not universal, compliance with the sanitary regime is of great importance.

«Let us not give up on vaccinations, because only vaccinations can significantly reduce the number of infections. The very first dose of the vaccine protects against a severe course of the disease. And let’s remember that it does not matter which vaccine we take »- he said.
