The government was put against the wall in the case of epidemic restrictions, it had no choice – said virologist prof. Włodzimierz Gut. In his opinion, the most important will be restrictions on trade in large stores, because there were much less infections in kindergartens and nurseries.

  1. Lockdown has been in force in Poland since Saturday. Closed are, among others shopping malls (with the exception of selected stores), large-format supermarkets, beauty salons and hairdressers

– On Friday evening, many last-minute people exchanged viruses in DIY stores. From Saturday, for two weeks it will be limited, and in my opinion, longer than two weeks. May it not be that in February, after playing at Krupówki, I was right. Back then, I said it was a lockdown party and it would lead to 40 infections a day. There is not much to it. So today these people got what they wanted. It is a pity that the majority, i.e. those responsible, suffer – pointed out prof. Gut.

In his opinion, the government, introducing stricter epidemic restrictions from Saturday, did only what was necessary. – The authority was placed against the wall, it had no choice. Let’s wake up and take a real look at reality. It is in Poland that most people in Europe are currently dying of COVID-19. We will not enchant this statistic – added the virologist.

He emphasized that now it is not mainly children and adolescents that are ill, but people of working age. They are mostly 40, 50 and 60-year-olds.

– This is the most dangerous group of the sick for many reasons. These people have a lot of contacts. They are also afraid of losing their jobs, so they go to the plant with the infection for many days. They come to the doctor when it is really bad – pointed out prof. Gut.

According to the expert, this contributes to a significant increase in mortality in Poland.

– There is also no need to charm that we will get rid of large numbers of infections in a week or two. Even if the summit was now, and probably another week is missing, we will be descending from it for two months. March of increases will translate into April and May of declines. At the end of May, we may return to the state from the end of February – assessed the expert.
