On Saturday, the health ministry said that research has confirmed 40 new coronavirus infections – the most in a pandemic. 876 people with COVID-193 died.

When asked by PAP about this record, prof. Gut admitted that it was related to the fact that “nothing has changed” in people’s behavior. – This record may rise even further. This is the result of human behavior. I did not expect such a result – said the scientist.

At the same time, he assessed that even such a high level of infections does not pose a “threat to hospitality”. – We had over 20 thousand. beds. In recent days, despite the increase in infections, there has been a reduction in occupied beds, i.e. people get less ill, which is due to the fact that part of the population is vaccinated – He said.

The problem – as he pointed out – “was in the deaths, because unvaccinated people did not want to see a doctor quickly, which increased the spread of the virus, but the problem of deaths also began to straighten out”.

When asked about the effectiveness of the government’s calls for introducing remote work, prof. Gut assessed that “these are not restrictions, but an application to common sense”. At the same time, he stated that he would prefer more restrictive methods, such as the introduction of a vaccination order.

At the same time, the professor reassured that the increase in infections “someday will start to decrease”. In this context, he stressed the importance of further vaccinations. – What is grafting? It prepares the body for infection and shortens the emission period later, sometimes even to zero. So an infected person infects much less time – he says.

Asked if it is still possible to return to the pre-pandemic state, prof. Gut said that you should get used to the current state.
