It seems that there is nothing easier than turning on the tap and rinsing out what we are going to eat or cook. However, even in such a simple matter, it turns out, there are many nuances that should be remembered.

1. Frozen fruits and vegetables

Thanks to them, life has become much easier: just put them in a frying pan and bring to a boil. Many people do not wash frozen fruits and vegetables before cooking. And there is nothing to worry about if you are going to cook them at a high temperature. But if you don’t boil them, be sure to rinse thoroughly and cook the same way as fresh to get rid of dirt and bacteria. Especially if you buy “freeze” by weight in a supermarket, where everyone climbs into a tray with vegetables, perhaps not with the cleanest hands.

All types of rice should be washed 3-4 times before cooking (especially long grain rice) until the water is clear. We do this not to wash away the dust, but to get rid of the starch covering the rice. It is the starch that makes the rice stick together and gives the dish an unappetizing look. If you don’t rinse it off properly, you won’t be able to cook the crumbly rice.

All seafood in sinks must be washed thoroughly, even if you buy them frozen, as they can contain a lot of sand and dirt. Otherwise, you will be eating all this “rubbish”. We don’t think you will like sand as a dressing!

4. Milk and dairy products

It is recommended that you wash the carton of milk, yoghurt and other liquid products before opening it. Thousands of buyers may have touched it, picked it up to read the information. And the movers and employees of the trading floor, putting on the goods on the shelves, definitely left their microflora on the packaging. As soon as we open the package, bacteria from people who have touched it before you can easily get inside.

Raw fish should only be washed if you are going to eat it raw. The heat will kill all bacteria, and if you rinse it under the tap, you run the risk of spreading germs throughout the kitchen with splashing water. Remember to wash your hands, cutting board and knife after cutting, warns Вright Side… The same goes for meat and poultry.

Whatever type of cabbage you cook, it must be thoroughly rinsed. The cauliflower should be divided into florets and all grooves should be carefully washed. If you are cooking cabbage or cabbage, remove the first two layers of leaves that can hide dust and dirt. To get rid of bugs and bacteria, place the head of cabbage in a sink filled with water, add vinegar, and soak it for a few minutes. Then rinse the cabbage with clean water.

Such drinks are very popular on hot sunny days: the drink stays cold longer in the can and seems even tastier. However, before taking a sip, wash the jar or at least wipe the top surface of it. As you know, banks are usually transported in dusty trucks, and customers in stores constantly pick them up. By the way, if you can, pour the contents of the jar into a glass. Or take a straw – it’s healthier for your teeth as well.

Any greens are extremely healthy and tasty, but they must be washed. To get rid of the sand and dirt in the leaves, tear them off with both hands and place them in clean, cold water for a few minutes. Then remove and spread on a clean towel until the leaves are dry. Then you can enjoy the salad!

The most useful fruits are considered young apples, which have not undergone any special processing. But these are rare in stores. Studies have shown that if fruits are soaked in water and baking soda for 12 minutes, most of the chemicals on the surface and skin will be washed out.
