Proctosone

Proctosone is used to treat external and internal hemorrhoids, chronic and acute inflammation of the anus, anal fissure and anal itching. The drug contains a glucocorticosteroid, an antibiotic, a local anesthetic and a substance that reduces the permeability of blood vessels. The preparation is in the form of over-the-counter rectal ointments and suppositories.

Proctosone – indications and dosage

Proctosone is a medicine intended for:

  1. for the treatment of external and internal hemorrhoids,
  2. in the treatment of chronic and acute inflammation of the anus,
  3. in anal fissures and itching.

Drug dosage

  1. Rectally. Usually 1 suppository or a small amount of ointment with an applicator in the morning and evening, and after each bowel movement. The preparation can be used in the period before and after surgery.

Proctosone and contraindications

There are the following contraindications to the use of Proctosone:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. tuberculosis,
  3. fungal and viral infections.

Proctosone – warnings

  1. Do not use medications with hydrocortisone until the correct diagnosis is made by your doctor.
  2. If you have used preparations with hydrocortisone before – inform your doctor about it.
  3. If there are simultaneous signs of infection or allergy, treatment should be causal.
  4. Discontinue use of the preparation if irritation occurs.
  5. In the case of long-term use of the drug, there may be a risk of systemic changes characteristic of corticosteroids.
  6. There are no data on the safety of administration of the drug in pregnant and lactating women. The preparation can be used only after medical consultation and in case of absolute necessity, for a short time.

Proctosone with other medications

There has been no interaction of Proctosone with other drugs.

Proctosone – side effects

Treatment with Proctosone may cause the following side effects:

  1. occasional burning sensation in the anus,
  2. Adverse effects may occur due to the systemic action of hydrocortisone.
