Processing gladioli is one of the important stages of flower storage. This event largely determines whether the culture will survive until spring. Processing can be done in different ways. Some growers prefer chemical preparations, others choose more gentle methods.

After digging, the flowers need to be prepared for storage. The first step is to gently rinse the bulbs to remove any residual soil. Try not to damage the scales of the plant and children during the event. Then dry the culture a little.

In the future, it is necessary to process the bulbs from diseases and pests. For this, the following drugs are used:
- “Maxim”. Dissolve 4 ml of the drug in 2 liters of water. Pour the solution over the onions so that they are completely covered and hold for half an hour.
- Fundazol. Dissolve 10 g of the product in 2 liters of water. Place the onions in the solution and hold for 30 minutes.
These drugs are very toxic, so the procedure should be carried out in protective equipment. It is also advisable to keep the processed bulbs away from food. After fungicides, do not forget to hold the flowers in a 3% solution of potassium permanganate. And only then dry and store.
Processing gladiolus onions after digging with folk methods
Fungicides are effective but also highly toxic. Therefore, gardeners prefer the time-tested and safe methods. The following tools are used to process flowers:
- Pour 1 liter of water with 30 g of chopped onion or garlic. Insist 24 hours and strain. Pour the solution over the gladioli for an hour.
- Fill the calendula flowers in half the volume of a liter jar and fill them with water until the lid. Insist 2 days and strain. Soak gladioli in the solution for 8-10 hours.
- Pour 1 g of dry potato tops into 80 liter of water. Insist the solution for a day, then strain. Soak gladioli in liquid for an hour. This remedy is effective against diseases.
After treatment with any of these agents, it is advisable to soak the plants in a solution of potassium permanganate for 10-20 minutes. Then you will increase their immunity to fungal diseases. In the future, you can dry the plants and send them for storage.
