Problem: hand hair – what to do with it, and whether it is necessary

Thick and dark hairs can look quite unattractive on girls’ graceful hands. But we know how to deal with it.

It used to be believed that women who have abundant vegetation on their hands should be lucky in life. And one of the signs says that such a woman will marry very successfully. Believe it or not, it’s up to you, but nowadays, hair on your hands can slightly scare off a potential husband. And all due to the fact that society is literally obsessed with the fact that the girl’s body should be perfectly smooth, without the presence of hair on it, despite the fact that this is absolutely unnatural.

The presence of hair on your hands can be hereditary, that is, nature itself decided for you that you will have vegetation. Many experts point out that the cause of non-hereditary growth of dark and coarse hair can be the production of male hormones, as a result of which this can lead to the disease hirsutism.

Also, hair can begin to grow due to problems with the secretory glands, thyroid, or hormonal failure during pregnancy. Experts point out that once you notice dramatic hair growth on your hands, it’s best to see your doctor to find out what is causing it.

The most common way is shaving hair. This is an absolutely painless option that does not cause much discomfort. However, in this case, the girls face some drawbacks: the hairs will grow back quickly and become more rigid.

«Waxing, as a rule, always causes ingrown hairs, can lead to burns and often to post-traumatic pigmentation (skin tone may no longer be uniform). The laser beam has a bactericidal effect. Waxing is always “tearing off” not only the hair, but also the surface protective layer of the skin. Therefore, the skin after waxing is smooth for several days, and then it is drier and coarser, ”notes Anna Glukhova, esthetician cosmetologist at the Estelab clinic.

Another option is to use epilator… It will be somewhat painful, but after a few procedures, the sensitivity of the skin will decrease significantly. A big plus is that the hairs will not grow as quickly. It is also important to understand: to repeat the procedure, you will have to wait for the hair to grow back a couple of millimeters so that the epilator can capture and remove it.

«Laser Hair Removal Is the only method of permanent hair removal. The laser beam has the so-called selectivity, that is, it affects only the pigment of the hair and does not affect the surrounding tissues. Modern laser systems have amazing pain relief systems that make the procedure as comfortable as possible on any sensitive area. Hair does not grow between procedures at least 3 weeks after the first procedure and at least 3-4 months at the end of the course. There is no need to grow hairs like for waxing, ”says Anna Martyanova, beautician at the Delete clinic.

In addition, after a properly conducted course of laser hair removal procedures, the effect lasts for 5 years with annual preventive procedures (1-2 times a year). In the event of a change in hormonal levels, hair growth resumes.

Expert opinion on hand hair removal

Leading esthetician of the clinic “Time of Beauty”

– Whether to remove the hair on your hands, even if it is a very light fluff, is up to you. This is primarily a matter of personal comfort and aesthetic preferences. And if there are any worries, then, perhaps, it is better to really remove and not worry about it anymore.

Today, there are many ways to get rid of unwanted vegetation on your hands. Of these, I can recommend waxing and shugaring (hair removal with a thick sugar paste). They will keep your hands smooth for about 2 weeks. But keep in mind that the minimum length of hairs to remove is 0,5 mm. We’ll have to “grow”.

Photoepilation (exposure to broadband light) and laser have a longer-term effect, for 1,5-2 months. These methods have contraindications: pregnancy, skin lesions and a fresh tan, but with such gloomy weather as it is now, and after a period of a pandemic, when no one travels to the seas and does not sunbathe in a solarium, many choose just photo or laser hair removal. If you do the procedure now, then the effect will last almost until the end of the summer.

Depilatory creams can cause irritation and allergies on sensitive skin, be careful. Ingrown hairs may remain after using the electric epilator. Therefore, I would not call them ideal ways. And, of course, it is better not to use a razor for this area. Otherwise, you risk getting a dense growth of dark dense hairs as a result, which is unlikely to be in harmony with an open summer dress.

Finally, do not forget to groom your hands between treatments: apply a moisturizing lotion and periodically scrub / exfoliate to exfoliate the keratinized scales and allow new hairs to come out.
