Probiotics: what are their benefits?
The benefits of probiotics and where to find them?
Probiotics are living microorganisms, that is to say bacteria and yeasts which, according to the official definition of the World Health Organization (WHO), “when ingested in sufficient quantity have positive health effects “1. By rebalancing the intestinal flora, they help in particular in the digestion of fibers, stimulate the immune system and prevent and treat diarrhea.2. Probiotics can be found in yogurts (yogurts), in fermented dairy products, in certain dishes made from fermented vegetables such as beans. We also find probiotics in brewer’s yeast that can be used for making bread or pizza dough. You should know that the acidity of the stomach destroys 90% of the probiotics ingested and that their beneficial effects are observed once they have reached the intestine. It is therefore preferable to opt for enteric-coated capsules (= soluble in the intestine). Research is currently being carried out to understand the role of probiotics in protecting the body against intestinal inflammation.3.
