Microsoft Word has a very useful function in some cases – inserting a printed substrate, i.e. translucent background image or text below the content on each page of the document (tab Design – Pad):
Excel does not have such built-in functionality, but you can easily implement something similar on your own if necessary.
Substrate with a picture
Switch to page layout mode with the button Page layout tab View (View – Page Break View) or buttons in the lower right corner of the window:
In this mode, printed pages with margins and headers will be displayed on the screen, i.e. it’s almost a print preview for your document (but with the ability to edit it at the same time).
Click in the header header area:
… and then press the button Drawing (Picture) on the tab that appears Working with headers and footers : Constructor (Header&Footer : Design). Choose an image to insert from the proposed set of sources:
After selecting a file, not the image itself will be temporarily visible, but its text field. To lower the picture lower, enter a few empty paragraphs in front of it with the key Enter:
You can set the parameters of the inserted image using the button Picture Format (Picture Format)which will open the corresponding dialog box:
In particular, on the tab Size (Size) you can play with the scale of the inserted picture, and on the tab Drawing (Picture) – chromaticity.
Underlay with text
If you need to make an underlay with text, you will have to create it first:
- Add a new sheet to the book to temporarily place the text.
- Remove the grid from it by unchecking the box Сетка tab View (View – Grid).
- Insert text using button WordArt tab Insert (Insert – WordArt) and format it (rotate to desired angle, set color, font, etc.)
- Now we need to take a screenshot of a fragment of the screen with an inscription and save it as a graphic file. This can be done using the standard program Scissors, which is part of Windows, which can be launched through Start – Programs – Accessories or just by typing her name in the main screen (if you have Windows 8):
The resulting graphic file can be inserted into the substrate in the same way as described above:
- Picture in cell notes
- Dropdown list with pictures
- Graphic splash screen when opening a book
