Prickly heat in infants: how to cure? Video

The sensitive skin of babies is especially sensitive to changes in the environment. This manifests itself in the form of diaper rash and dermatitis, however, most often, parents of babies are faced with such a nuisance as prickly heat. Noticing a red rash on the back or breast of the baby, do not be alarmed, since you can get rid of prickly heat on your own in a short time.

Miliaria, like any disease, is easier to prevent than to cure. Remember that the process of thermoregulation in infants is poorly debugged, their sweat and sebaceous glands are not yet able to cope with the stress. Therefore, you need to monitor the temperature in the room where the child sleeps, and ventilate it more often. The optimum air temperature in the room where the baby is located is 20–22 ° С.

Try not to wrap your child up. Give preference to loose-fitting clothes made from natural fabrics. When changing clothes, massage, bathing, always carefully examine the skin of the crumbs.

Don’t skip swimming. Until a newborn is six months old, you need to bathe him before evening feeding every day. Use bubble bath or pH neutral soap for bathing. After bathing, pat your baby’s skin thoroughly with a diaper or towel.

Use only products specially designed for their age for bathing babies. Foams, shampoos and gels for babies from birth do not cause irritation and allergies

Improper use of diapers can provoke skin irritation. Choose only breathable materials and change them regularly. During the daytime, this should be done every three hours, at night – every 6-8 hours. Diapers should not be embarrassing for your baby. After each shift wash the baby or, being in the “field” conditions, treat with wet wipes.

Trim your baby’s nails so that he does not injure the areas of the skin affected by prickly heat

If prickly heat does appear

Do not panic, because when performing simple hygiene procedures, prickly heat will disappear very quickly. Treat prickly heat with an antiseptic solution of fucorcin or furocilin.

Use over-the-counter ointments to treat affected skin areas. As a rule, these funds are used not only to combat prickly heat, but also for prophylaxis when caring for delicate baby skin. Before using any ointment, you need to consult your doctor.

Herbal baths are a proven way to combat prickly heat.

Use decoctions of walnut leaves, string, chamomile. However, remember that this method of treatment requires taking precautions, as the baby may be allergic to medicinal herbs. Therefore, consult your pediatrician before using them.

Use only fresh broth, do not store it. Prepare the herbal remedy in a china or enamel bowl. After bathing in herbs, do not rinse or wash your baby with soap for a more effective treatment.
