Allergy tests are the best way to show what allergens you are allergic to. This allows us to characterize the factors that cause undesirable symptoms, thanks to which we know what to avoid and how to effectively treat the allergy. This is why allergy testing is so important and needed.
One way to find out what you’re allergic to is spot teststhat use different types of allergens, including inhalant allergens. Allergy can be treated by eliminating the allergens and then by desensitizing them. That’s why it’s good to know your “enemy” early enough.

That is why, when an allergy is diagnosed in us, it should be done as soon as possible allergy tests: will help to recognize harmful allergens that are responsible for sensitization. Once you have the results, it will be easier for you to treat your allergy and take appropriate steps towards its recovery. How is allergy treated? Mainly causally and symptomatically:
- Causal treatment – most often consists in the elimination of allergens that cause sensitization.
It happens that diseases that seem to be completely unrelated to allergies are diseases of allergic origin. It is with the help of allergy tests that you can tell if this is really the case. It is thanks to them that appropriate treatment will be introduced: for example, otitis, diseases of the urinary system, diseases of the genital tract, arthritis are treated with antibiotics. Unfortunately, if any of these diseases is allergic, the administration of an antibiotic will exacerbate the disease – any such disease should be treated as an allergy.
What are the point tests?
The most commonly used method is spot testbecause it is the most accessible. It is performed as follows:
- We puncture the skin with a needle on which there are inhalant allergens,
- After some time, a blister appears on the skin, redness,
- This is a sign that the particular allergen that is on the needle is causing an allergic reaction. However, unfortunately, this result is not always 100% true – when the test result is positive, it does not necessarily mean that it was these allergens that caused the allergy.
Of this type allergy tests they are most effective in case of allergy to insect venom and plant pollen. A less certain result occurs with allergies to mold fungi and mites. If in doubt, your doctor will order a blood test. When tests confirm an allergy, medications can be selected to suppress or alleviate the symptoms of the disease.
