If small wounds take a very long time to heal, and the gums are swollen and sore, you urgently need to replenish your vitamin C reserves. Low levels of vitamins D and E are much more difficult to detect. This may be indicated by gratuitous weight loss and excessive sweating.
The causes of beriberi are different. First of all, this is a poorly balanced diet. With a meager selection of fresh vegetables and fruits in winter, it is difficult to establish a diet, hence the lack of nutrients. Sedentary lifestyle and bad habits also cause a crushing blow to the immune system. Often negative factors are hidden in the external environment. The short daylight hours and the deplorable state of the environment, especially in megacities, seriously undermine our health.

How to prevent beriberi at the earliest stages? First of all, take care of proper nutrition. Include in the diet all available seasonal vegetables: carrots, cabbage, beets, pumpkin, radishes, celery. Fresh salads should be on the menu every day. Be sure to put onions and garlic in them. The first in shock doses contains potassium, iron, vitamins B, C and PP. The second is rich in essential oils, magnesium, calcium, selenium and zinc, which increase the immune defense.
A healthy diet with vitamin deficiency can not be imagined without citrus fruits. They are valuable not only for ascorbic acid, but also for improving the work of the heart, improving the metabolism. Raspberries, cherries, sea buckthorn, strawberries, black and red currants — a powerful nourishment for the body. Even in frozen form, they retain the maximum benefit. The real vitamin and mineral bombs are any nuts. Just do not get carried away with them, because this is an extremely high-calorie and heavy food.
The diet for vitamin deficiency prescribes 2-3 times a week to eat dishes of red meat and liver, alternating them with low-fat fish and seafood. Pay more attention to cottage cheese, kefir, ryazhenka and yogurt. By the way, their benefits can be enhanced by adding honey, cinnamon or cardamom. Lean on whole grain cereals, mainly buckwheat and oatmeal. Add more fresh herbs, green onions, spinach, and lettuce to the menu. At the same time, give up sausages, smoked meats and any fast food. Folk remedies are very effective in the treatment of beriberi. One of them is a salad “Brush”, familiar to all losing weight. Combine 200 g of chopped cabbage, grated carrots, beets and a bunch of celery in a bowl, salt and season with olive oil. This vegetable mix will saturate the body with vitamins and cleanse it of toxins.
With beriberi, dried fruits are indispensable. Put in a saucepan 5-6 fruits of prunes, dried apricots, figs and apricots, a handful of raisins and a couple of lemon slices. Fill them with a glass of water, cook for 5 minutes and filter. The mixture can be eaten immediately, flavored with honey, but it is better to add it to rice porridge or cottage cheese.
A decoction of rosehip is an emergency aid to the body in case of beriberi. Fill 1 liter of water with 5 tbsp. l. rosehip berries and cook for 10 minutes. We pour the broth into a thermos, leave it overnight and drink it all day instead of tea. To enhance the effect, you can steam the rosehip with 1 tbsp. l. black currant.
As folk recipes for beriberi, tinctures are good. Mix the lemon zest, 1 tbsp aloe juice, 5 dried cloves, ½ tsp cinnamon and ¼ tsp nutmeg in a glass jar. Pour the mixture of 500 ml of honey, 500 ml of vodka, mix and insist for 10 days. Take the tincture is recommended for 1 tbsp. l. twice a day.
Germinated seeds will help to overcome beriberi. Grind 100 g of dried barley, wheat and rye sprouts in a coffee grinder. Pour 3 tbsp. l. of this flour with a liter of boiling water, insist for 30 minutes and filter. Drink the drug for 1 tbsp. l. three times a day, and soon the neuroses and chronic fatigue will recede.
Of course, these funds are not a panacea. Therefore, it will not be superfluous to ask the doctor about how to treat beriberi. Do not take this disease lightly and even more so treat it yourself.
