Where did the idea for «Prevention 40 PLUS» come from? – The coronavirus outbreak has changed our lifestyle. A sudden limitation of physical activity and an increase in the intensity of stress increased the risk of developing diseases of affluence. At that time, we noticed a smaller number of tests performed compared to the previous year, which would enable their early detection, which is why we decided to introduce the 40 PLUS prophylactic screening program – explains Adam Niedzielski.

«Prevention 40 PLUS» program – what tests can be performed?

“Prevention 40 PLUS” assumes the implementation of diagnostic tests in the form of packages dedicated separately for women and men and a joint package. What tests are included in the individual packages?

The research package for women includes: peripheral blood count with percentage formula and platelets, total cholesterol or lipid profile control, glucose concentration, liver function assessment (ALT, AST, GGTP – liver enzymes), creatinine, urinalysis, uric acid, fecal occult blood.

Package for men: peripheral blood count with percentage formula and platelets, total cholesterol or lipid profile control, glucose concentration, liver function assessment (ALT, AST, GGTP – liver enzymes), creatinine, urinalysis, uric acid, fecal occult blood and PSA (test for prostate cancer).

The joint package for women and men includes: blood pressure measurement, assessment of the regularity of the heart rhythm, measurement of body weight, height, waist circumference and calculation of the body mass index (BMI).

– The scope of the research is very wide – Minister Niedzielski recently said in the radio program Sygnały Dnia. – We want to do a kind of health scan (Poles – ed.), Doing very basic research in order to give a contribution to, firstly, get interested in health, and secondly – in the case of results that would be disturbing – to drill down further.

«Prevention 40 PLUS» program – who can benefit and on what terms?

Every Pole who turns 40 this year will have access to a package of free diagnostic tests. – The calendar year is decisive here, not the date of birth – emphasized Deputy Minister of Health Sławomir Gadomski. Access to “Prevention 40 PLUS” is one-time, and its use is, of course, voluntary. The tests can be performed in facilities that implement the “Prevention 40 PLUS” program. It is enough for the patient to report to the point with an ID card – reports gov.pl.

To take advantage of the “Prevention 40 PLUS” package of tests, you must complete a questionnaire in the Internet Patient Account (IKP), which will assess the risk of certain diseases. After completing the questionnaire, an e-referral for the appropriate research package will be automatically issued. «Information that an e-referral for examinations has been issued for a given participant of the Prevention 40 PLUS program does not require printing or downloading from the Patient’s Internet Account. The medical facility to which the patient comes to perform tests will download this information from the IT system – it is enough to report to it with an ID card »- instructs gov.pl.
