How the company has developed from its inception to the present day
The history of Betafarma SpA began in 1971, when two Italian specialists, Ettore Thalia and Giuseppe Chicco, founded a scientific laboratory to realize their idea of applying high technology in the service of humanity. The laboratory, built by the Italians, was engaged in research in the field of production of cosmetics, medicines and hygiene products.

Subsequently, Betafarma SpA also received a license to manufacture medicines in the form of creams and ointments, using antibiotics and the substance “cortisone”.
Among other things, the company’s scientific developments and technologies aroused interest among dentists, especially practitioners, who more than once turned to the company’s management with proposals to direct their activities to the production of oral care products. By the end of the 20th century, the management came up with the idea to create a brand that produces exactly oral care products.
This idea finally took shape in 1998, thanks to the enthusiasm of Mariagrazia Pravettoni, an employee of the company. By joining the efforts of scientists and dental practitioners, in 1999 Betafarma SpA developed and presented the PresiDENT brand for the first time at a dental exhibition in Italy.
A start was made – the brand was engaged in the production of several types of toothpastes (for daily care, against caries), as well as a cream for fixing dentures. PresiDENT products have created a sensation in the field of cleaning products for teeth and gums due to the property of controlled abrasiveness. The PresiDENT brand began using the Syloblanc component in its formulation, a chemically inert amorphous silicon with a controlled shape and size. This introduction made it possible to predict and control the degree of the expected effect from the use of the product.
Since 2000, the company has been actively improving the existing formulas and recipes, opening new product lines, including those for comprehensive oral care, which is not limited to brushing teeth with toothpaste.
In 2001, the brand introduced to the world a paste designed to treat bleeding gums – PresiDENT Active. The anti-bleeding complex consisted of toothpaste, mouthwash, and a specially designed toothbrush. The Syloblanc component was also included in the product, in addition to it, plant components and antiseptic components were added to the recipe.
2006 – at this time, children’s toothpastes first appeared in the assortment.
