The validity of the prescription depends on what exactly it concerns. It is worth bearing in mind the expiry date of the prescription in order to avoid the fact that the pharmacist will not dispense our drugs to us because it has exceeded its expiry date.
Prescription validity – what it depends on
Regular period prescription expiration is 30 days – during this time you need to buy the medicine assigned to you by the doctor and remember that the excess prescription expiration even one day may be the reason why pharmacists refuse to dispense medicines. It is worth remembering that it is not always a whole month, but exactly 30 days.
However, this period may change for certain medications. First of all, it concerns antibiotics – the prescription for them has a validity period of 7 days. The changes also apply prescription expiration prescribed for drugs, the implementation of which takes time (e.g. they are imported from abroad). In this case, the prescription can be fulfilled up to 120 days.
Standard 30-day prescriptions are counted from the day they are issued. So, if we received a prescription on September 1, her the term of validity October 1 passes.
Validity of the prescription for vaccines
Vaccine prescriptions are associated with timelines that are tailored to the production needs of a given drug. Immune drugs have specific expiration dates and therefore validity of the prescription for vaccines produced according to the patient’s needs, it may be up to 90 days.
This period does not apply to all vaccines – mass-produced immunological drugs with the same composition may have significantly shorter ones dates recipe. Buying them out does not involve an extended production process, as they can be purchased in most pharmacies immediately.
Prescriptions renewed
Depending on the treatment, the patient may take medication for a long period, and therefore issuing one prescription may require a large, one-time expense. In this case, the doctor may write out several different prescriptions for the same drug. As a result, the patient fulfills prescriptions in relation to the planned consumption of drugs and the distribution of the costs of their purchase.
Another solution is the so-called a copy of the prescription. It allows you to buy only part of the prescription drugs. The write-off itself does not extend the expiry date document. A copy written off by a pharmacist can only be made at the place of issue. Ability to unsubscribe write-off does not apply to drugs from the narcotic, psychotropic and other highly active drugs.
In most pharmacies, it is also possible to buy reimbursed drugs. Depending on the location, the pharmacist may offer to sell some of the prescription drugs or pay for the whole of them, with the option of collecting some of the drugs at a later date (thanks to which they can, for example, keep a longer the term of validity).
Prescription for glasses
Recipes exposed to corrective glasses (lenses) to glasses they have the term of validity in the form of 30 days, but it is recommended that the prescription received from the ophthalmologist be used immediately. This is because it is associated with the possibility of deterioration of eyesight without correction. Major ophthalmic defects can also be a source of danger when participating in road traffic, so it is worth implementing them as soon as possible.
