Preparation and use of celandine tincture

Healing properties of celandine

Celandine contains about 20 alkaloids, in particular, chelidonin, chelerythrine, sparteine, sanguinarine, protopine, homochelidonin, berberine. Some medicines are made on the basis of chelidonin. The substance anesthetizes, lowers blood pressure, reduces heart rate, and relaxes smooth muscles. Sanguinarine is an analgesic that normalizes bowel function and enhances salivation. Homochelidonin inhibits the growth of tumors. Berberine has a choleretic effect, protopine has an antiarrhythmic effect.

Celandine is rich in vitamin C and carotene. Due to this, the plant has wound healing and antiscorbutic properties. Vitamin C is an antioxidant and flavonoid that strengthens the walls of blood vessels. Preparations from celandine give a powerful bactericidal effect.
