Experts say: the fascination of pregnant women with the products of the seas can further lead to the problem of fetal obesity… They advise to refrain from including fish in the diet of pregnant women, referring to a report presented in the journal JAMAPediatrics in their recommendations.

From the publication of experts it follows that there is a link between weight gain in children and the passion of pregnant women for seafood. The report is based on an analysis of 15 previous studies and a study of the menus of 26 pregnant women and their children from birth to six years of age. It follows from it: those women who, at the time of gestation, ate fish more than three or more times a week, provoked obesity in children. The risk of obesity by the age of two in the fetus increased by about 184%, and by the age of six, by 14.

How can this be explained? As doctors believe, potentially obesity is caused by the content of pesticides, mercury and other substances toxic to the health of children in fish. Their entry into the maternal organism leads first to changes in the development of the fetus in the womb and causes a malfunction in the work of two systems at once – the immune and the nervous. And then, after the birth of the baby, it leads to the obesity of the child – by about six years.
