Pregnancy: what administrative formalities?
  • From your first medical visit, discuss maternity issues with your doctor where you are going to give birth. In some maternity hospitals in large cities (Paris, Lyon, etc.) it is sometimes necessary to register as soon as the test results positive!
  • From your second month of pregnancy, perform a provisional registration in nursery for your baby, if that is the childcare arrangement you are considering.
  • From the fifth month of pregnancy, register for childbirth preparation sessions. Be careful if you choose the haptonomy, the sessions start earlier, around 3/4 months.
  • When you pack your suitcase for the maternity ward, remember to collect all the administrative documents you will need (Vitale card, identity card, follow-up file, etc.).
  • After birth: The father (or a delegate) has 5 days to complete the declaration of birth at the town hall. By way of derogation, this period may be extended to 8 days when the distance between the place of birth and the place where the registrar is located justifies it. !
Procedures with your employer

You are free to inform your employer of your pregnancy whenever you wish. However, in order to maintain a cordial relationship with him, it is best to notify him before your condition shows itself.

You must send a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt, attaching a medical certificate indicating the expected date of delivery.
