Pregnancy and perfume

Pregnancy and perfume

Stay flirtatious, yes, but sometimes hormones decide otherwise during pregnancy! Moreover, this is the case with our perfume: we can no longer smell it… everything is fine, it’s normal!

A hormonal phenomenon

Pregnancy cravings are no legend, and scientists have long since found the explanation in a hormonal upheaval. Some studies have shown the impact of hormones on smell: the influx of estrogen – female sex hormones – causes olfactory hypersensitivity during pregnancy.

And that’s how you sometimes discover a note in your perfume that you had never smelled before and that you don’t like. Some fragrances can even bother you, to the point of triggering nausea and headaches …

Another major inconvenience: pregnancy can cause increased sweating. However, this excessive sweating disrupts the composition of your eau de toilette which risks “turning”.

Don’t give up on perfume!

Fortunately, times are changing, and after stylists and cosmetic brands who have developed special “pregnant women” lines, it is perfumers who are sticking to them. And for good reason, a survey showed that 57% of pregnant women (or 450 per year) were satisfied with their natural smell or scents without character.

To each its own scent

If you are more of a natural woman and you need to be reassured, opt for a splash of white flowers such as jasmine, lily of the valley or water lily.

If you live your pregnancy in a fulfilling way, then you will tolerate more vitamin fragrances such as lemon, tangerine and green tea very well.
