Pregabalin is a drug dedicated to the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It also supports the treatment of adult partial seizures with or without secondary generalization.
Composition and action
Pregabalin, the main component of the drug, after oral administration on an empty stomach, is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, the maximum concentration in the blood serum is reached after 1 hour. the rate of its delivery) is determined after 24-48 hours. Administration with food reduces the maximum concentration of the drug in the blood by about 25-30 percent and extends the time to reach it by about 2,5 hours, but does not affect the degree of drug absorption. Pregabalin is not bound to plasma proteins. In animals, it crosses the blood-brain barrier, the placenta and into food. It is almost not metabolized, approximately 98 percent of the dose is excreted unchanged in the urine. The biological elimination half-life is 6,3 hours. According to doctors, it is one of the most effective agents on the Polish market for epilepsy.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation. The efficacy and safety of pregabalin in patients under 12 years of age has not been established, therefore its use in children and adolescents is not recommended. Patients with impaired galactose tolerance (primary lactase deficiency) or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take pregabalin.
Dosage
The drug is taken with or without food. 150–600 mg / d in 2-3 doses division Neuropathic pain: initially 150 mg / day. After 3–7 days, the dose may be increased to 300 mg / day, and then, as needed, after another 7 days, up to a dose of 600 mg / day. Epilepsy: initially 150 mg / day. The dose may be increased to 1 mg / day after 300 week of treatment. A dose of max. 600 mg / day may be achieved after another week.
