Vaginal malignancies are rare. They constitute about 1% of all cancers of the sexual organ.

Symptoms of a developing neoplastic process in the vagina, which can occur at any age, i.e. from an early age to an old age, are: bloody discharge, bleeding, and in women having sexual intercourse – contact bleeding.

Detection Capabilities

The basic diagnostic procedure is macroscopic and colposcopic evaluation of the vaginal mucosa and the collection of smears for cytological examination. If, on the basis of colposcopy and cytology, there is a suspicion of a precancerous condition or a malignant neoplasm, a section for histological examination should be taken under colposcopy and based on this, a decision about treatment can be made.
