A strong voice is a commanding voice. Commands must be clear, so for a strong voice it is very important to work out good diction. In addition, the commands must be confident when you start speaking loudly, with clear diction — you immediately become more confident. You get the feeling that there are many of you, that you occupy space, that your voice reaches all corners of the room. People feel it, feel your inner energy.
A strong voice is always energetic, it has a rich set of intonations. When you start playing with intonations, you yourself are charged and send more energy to other people. People feel in you a strong and energetic person, and this is one of the most important qualities of a leader.
In general, a strong voice is necessary and important for leadership. A strong voice is one of the most important leadership qualities.
At the Distance at the University of Practical Psychology there is an excellent exercise for training a strong voice. It’s called «Good Morning Vietnam!»
To complete the exercise, you must first imagine a good soldier well. Such as Major Payne from the movie of the same name. Such a character pronounces any phrase in a commanding voice so that a whole company of soldiers will hear and do what he asks without any hesitation.
The exercise is best done during training or a Distance class. But you can also do it at home — having warned others in advance that this is part of your work with your voice. If you work with this exercise for several weeks, even for 10-15 minutes a day, but regularly, you will notice changes very soon. It will become much easier for you to turn on the energy in your voice at the right time. Your voice will become louder and stronger.
Good luck with the exercise!
