Powdered milk was one of the most popular products in Soviet times. In times of scarcity, this white powder was in every home. This is understandable, whole milk is not stored, and dry milk can be kept for almost unlimited time and at the same time, diluted correctly, have an almost complete nutritious product.
Powdered milk was invented a long time ago, Soviet scientists only revived a forgotten recipe. In fairness, it is worth saying that they did not try at all for the good of the Soviet worker, but for the sake of a soldier of the Red Army, to whom milk, as well as eggs, were laid as part of a regular ration.
They borrowed the “dry” idea from the military breeders of the south, they used the diluted dry powder for fattening piglets and calves, and later – broilers. When the store counters were empty, milk powder migrated to the homes of citizens. The production of powder has become massive. The spray drying method was mainly used: pasteurized milk was evaporated, and then its concentrate was heated in a chamber. The resulting powdery particles became milk powder.
Dilution of milk powder
Powdered milk can and should be eaten, it is no worse than ordinary whole milk. Moreover, some of the dairy products on the shelves of modern stores are made from dry concentrate.
Correctly dilute the powder with boiled water, not necessarily warm. There is no need to brew. For a two-hundred-gram glass, you need to take 25 grams of milk powder. It is more convenient to pour water in small portions into a glass of milk, otherwise lumps often appear, which are not easy to get rid of. Stir the liquid not quickly but vigorously while adding the water.
Today, there are not only powders on sale, but also skimmed milk powder, whole milk powder, buttermilk powder, whey products and infant formula. Each species has its own purpose – read the instructions on the packages
Cover a glass with a whitish liquid with a saucer and let the milk brew. Within 5-10 minutes, the protein will dissolve, and the milk will acquire the usual taste without any wateriness.
Milk powder properties
Powdered milk is not recommended for feeding babies. The fact is that the final product has a high fat content. It is believed that normal milk powder contains about 25-27% protein, 36-38% carbohydrates, 26-40% fat, and 5-7% minerals. Milk fats are saturated and significantly exceed the daily requirement of a small child.
Even adults need to be smart about milk consumption. With its overabundance in the diet, metabolic disorders in the body are observed, the development of obesity, because lactose, as you know, is a fast carbohydrate.
But this composition of the product is interesting for those who are engaged in bodybuilding. For an even set of muscle mass, the builders of their own body consume no more than 300 grams of diluted milk, and not at one time, but during the day.
