Powder remains in the dishwasher – what to do

Is there any powder left in the dishwasher? What is the reason?

Your technique worked fine, but you noticed that there are stains on the plates, dirt is not completely removed. At the same time, the agent is poorly washed out of the compartment. The case may be a violation of the rules of operation or a breakdown. Consider all options.

Why does the dishwasher not wash off the powder

The most common cause of such a problem is improper loading of dishes. If you overload the camera or place an object that is too large, it may block the compartment. Then the machine does not take the detergent and does not consume the rinse aid.

To correct the situation, it is enough to correctly position the dishes in the baskets.

What else could be the reason why the powder does not dissolve and does not go away:

  • The dosing valve is clogged.
  • Poor pressure in the water supply, due to which insufficient water pressure is created in the machine.
  • Faulty or blocked intake valve.
  • Problems with the operation of the circulation pump.
  • Faulty thermostat.
  • Heating element failure.

What should I do if there is a fine powder on the dishes? Find and fix the problem.

How to restore the PMM

If the machine has become difficult to pick up detergent and wash dishes, you need to take action. You have already made sure that the dishes are positioned correctly, check the other options.

Dispenser valve

Open the washing compartment and inspect the valve. If it is clogged with powder residue, dirt, you need to clean it. Then restart the machine. The result is the same? Proceed to the next point.

Problems with water supply and inlet valve

A weak pressure in the system creates insufficiently strong water flow for it to wash out the washing powder. Open the faucet and check for water and pressure. Wait until the supply is restored, or contact a plumber.

A clogged fill valve also contributes to poor water flow. And if the valve is broken, the membrane does not open and does not let water into the system. To check this, you need a little disassemble the dishwasher. In Bosch models, the part is located at the bottom of the case. Once you get to the valve, do this:

  • Disconnect wiring plugs.
  • Take a multimeter and measure the resistance.
  • To do this, attach the probes to the contacts of the part.
  • Resistance of 500-1500 ohms is considered normal.
  • You can check whether the membrane opens or not by applying operating voltage to the valve.

If the membrane does not work, then water does not enter the system and the powder is not washed out. Replace the old valve with a new one and continue to operate the equipment.

Circulation pump malfunctions

The pump assembly is responsible for the pressure when fed into the chamber. As soon as water is pumped into the system, it is distilled by the circulation unit, fed into the atomizers and flies out of the holes with such force as to wash off all contaminants from the surface of the devices and dissolve the powder granules.

To check the pump assembly in the Electrolux, Bosch, Siemens dishwasher, you will have to remove the bottom.

  • Open the chamber and take out the lower basket.
  • There are screws in the pan that hold the pump in place. Unscrew them.
  • Turn the car over onto the back wall.
  • Unscrew the fasteners around the perimeter.
  • Remove the pallet.
  • Inspect the pump, its tubes may be clogged.
  • In case of any malfunctions, you will have to completely change the circulation unit. You can do it yourself, you just need to choose the right replacement for your PMM model.

There are other reasons why the powder may not wash out well.

Thermostat and heater problems

The heating element is used to heat water in the dishwasher. It is clear that at low temperatures the agent dissolves worse. Heating largely depends on the temperature sensor. How it works: the user sets the program with a temperature of 70 degrees. The heating element heats the water, and the temperature sensor controls the temperature. As soon as it reaches 70°C, the thermostat signals the module to finish heating. The heater turns off.

The heater and thermistor are also located under the bottom, in the pump assembly. You can inspect the contacts at the time of burns, damage. If one of the parts breaks, it will need to be replaced.

If you notice that there is powder left in the dishwasher, do not let things take their course. Find out the cause of this phenomenon as soon as possible to avoid serious damage.
