Pouring hawthorn berries on vodka

Homemade hawthorn liqueur is remembered for its characteristic red color, mild pleasant taste, slight sourness and pleasant aroma of berries. The drink is made by insisting the fruits on strong alcohol. The whole process will take about a month.

For the preparation of hawthorn liqueur, it is better to use dried or at least dried berries. Fresh fruits should be sorted out, spoiled, then dried in a dry, ventilated room for 15-20 days. The best alcohol base will be vodka, ethyl alcohol diluted with water, moonshine or cheap cognac.

Ingredients:

  • dried hawthorn berries – 1 glass without a slide;
  • vodka (alcohol 40-45%, moonshine, cognac) – 1 liter;
  • honey – 2 tablespoons;
  • cinnamon – on the tip of a knife;
  • vanillin – on the tip of a knife.

Cinnamon and vanillin make the aroma richer, and interesting notes appear in the taste, but you can do without them. If the berries are sour, add more honey or sugar at the 5th stage of cooking.

1. Pour dried berries into a jar.

2. Add vodka, honey, cinnamon and vanilla.

3. Stir, tightly close the lid.

4. Put the jar for 25-30 days (until the berries become light) in a dark place at room temperature. Shake every 2-3 days.

5. Strain the finished liquor through gauze, squeeze the berries well, which have absorbed a lot of alcohol. Taste, add sugar or honey if desired, mix. It is advisable to filter the drink through a layer of cotton wool.

6. Pour into bottles for storage, seal tightly. Shelf life in a place protected from sunlight is up to 5 years. Fortress hawthorn liqueur 34-37 degrees.
