What you need to cook potatoes in meat pots

For 4 pots with a volume within 0,5 liters, the following products are needed: – 400 g of meat fillet; – 400 g of potatoes; – 200 g of sour cream; – 1 onion; – vegetable oil for frying; – black pepper and salt to taste.

Any meat fillet can be used to prepare this recipe, but it should be remembered that beef should be stewed longer than chicken or pork

Cut the washed meat into small pieces, chop the onion in half rings. In a hot skillet, fry the meat with onions until golden brown. This will keep all the juices inside each piece, but if there is absolutely not enough time to cook, you can follow the simplified path and not fry the meat. In this case, it will more closely resemble stew, but the taste will not get worse from this.

Transfer the fried meat with onions to a deep saucepan or salad bowl, cut the potatoes into cubes there, pour sour cream over them, add salt and pepper and mix thoroughly, then put in pots. It is easier to salt and mix with sour cream in a large bowl than in portions in each pot.

Preheat the oven to 180 ° C, put the pots in it and cook for about 45 minutes, periodically looking into them and making sure that the sour cream does not evaporate. If this happened, and the potatoes have not yet become soft, put a spoonful of sour cream in each of the pots or pour 2-3 tablespoons of water.

How can you diversify the taste of a dish

The above is the simplest recipe for how to cook potatoes in pots, but it is by no means the only one. If you are tired of the classic taste, then you can easily diversify it, taking as a basis the same proportions of products, but adding to them: – 1 chopped carrot; – a handful of olives or pitted olives; – a spoonful of tomato paste. – a bunch of chopped dill or parsley.

But it should be remembered that the presence of tomato in the dish increases the cooking time, since the acidic environment slows down the stewing process. So if you put pasta or tomatoes in the pots, the cooking time can be increased to an hour.

Another way to get spicier potatoes is to add some grated hard cheese to each pot just before turning off the oven. Considering that when using each specific type of meat, the final taste of the dish will turn out to be completely different, then the field for experiments with potatoes in pots is simply enormous.
