Potatoes pop up when cooking, what should I do?
In the vast majority of cases, potatoes should not float when cooking – not whole, not even if cut into small pieces. But there are times when housewives complain about this particular drawback. We buy potatoes in supermarkets without thinking about their origin, cultivation methods, fertilization and watering methods and other nuances. Meanwhile, it all matters. The villagers still do not recognize anything other than manure as fertilizer, and this is justified by many years of experience.
It may be worth checking the potatoes for all kinds of voids, streaks, uneven color and other non-standard things for cutting just before use. Carefully cut out all suspicious places with a knife and do not eat rotten, green parts. If the potato pieces come up, it is better to refrain from eating them.
The only exception to this rule is that potatoes float in very, very salty water due to the difference in density. Potatoes are boiled in salt to achieve a “baked” effect.
