Luck potatoes are a vivid example of the successful work of Russian breeders. The variety has proven itself in almost all climatic zones of the country. Its ability to adapt to different types of soil and ambient temperature allows harvesting from 40 to 45 tons per hectare of land.

Description of the potato variety “Luck”

Variety “Luck” refers to early maturing potato varieties. Depending on weather conditions, planting can begin at the end of April, and in the northern regions in mid-May. Already at t + 10 ° C, the tubers begin to germinate. The bushes of the culture are dense, low, grow up to 60 cm in length. The color of the leaves is a rich green color; during flowering, small brushes of snow-white inflorescences are formed. It should be noted that when planting in cold ground, the rate of maturation of root crops slows down by about 2 weeks.

Potatoes “Luck” withstands drought

Differs in the rapidity of ripening of tubers. About 45 days after germination, young potatoes can be eaten. Its taste is very delicate, there is no wateriness, but at the same time the tubers do not boil over and keep their shape well after cooking.

The tubers have a rounded, slightly elongated shape and a thin, smooth peel, the color of which can be light brown or creamy. The flesh on the cut is white, but after heat treatment it may turn yellowish. With proper care, up to 2 kg of crop can be harvested from one bush.

Characteristics of the potato variety “Luck”

The Udacha variety refers to varieties that have all the properties for long-term storage and transportation. Another advantage of this variety is its resistance to mechanical damage, so specialized equipment can be used for harvesting.

Basic information about a variety can be obtained from its characteristics:

  • the duration of the growing season is 80 to 90 days;
  • the average weight of one tuber is 100-150 g;
  • the number of tubers in one nest is 10-15 pcs.;
  • variety yield – 42−45 t / ha
  • starch content in the range of 10-14%;
  • during long-term storage, the marketable and taste qualities do not change.

Resistance to temperature extremes and most diseases that vegetable crops are susceptible to, made “Luck” a leader among other varieties of potatoes. These abilities are the best way to contribute to obtaining a large and high-quality harvest. Of course, for this, the gardener needs to make some effort, but the result is worth it.
