“Why eat cabbage if you have potatoes?” – one of the favorite expressions of modern moms.
But not everyone knows that for the first time Potatoes (from him. Kartoffel) appeared in Europe about three hundred years ago.
As a source of calories, potatoes, for a modern person, are the fifth most important after the following products: wheat, corn, rice, barley.
Well-cooked potatoes will be combined with almost any product, be it fish products, meat, vegetables, mushrooms, dairy products, all sorts of sauces, herbs, and even with berries.
Potatoes are served hot as well as cold; can be a main dish as well as a side dish.
Fried pies with potatoes
Never made fried potato pies? Let’s learn! At home, you can make delicious and mouth-watering pies with potatoes without much hassle, which will surely please your whole family and invited guests!
Ingredients:
- milk (warm) – 2 glasses
- flour – 4 cups and 8 tbsp. l.
- eggs – 2 pcs.
- sour cream – 2 tbsp. l
- sunflower oil – 2 tbsp. l.
- yeast – 1 tbsp. l.
- salt – 1 and 1/4 tbsp. l.
- sugar – 1/4 tbsp. l.
- peeled potatoes – 5 pcs. (boil in salt water)
- onion – 2 pcs. (grind)
- butter – 120 gr.
- olive oil – 2 tbsp. l.
- dill – 2 tbsp. l.
- add salt / pepper if desired.
In a medium bowl, stir in 1 cup milk (warm), a quarter teaspoon of salt, sugar, yeast, 8 tbsp. tablespoons of flour.
We wait 10 minutes, and we see the foaming yeast, cover the bowl with a lid or a towel. While our yeast is foaming, use a whisk or mixer: take another bowl and mix 1 glass of milk (warm!), Sour cream, butter, eggs and salt. Add 2 and half cups of flour and mix it all with a whisk / mixer.
Now you can add our cooked yeast.
Beat with a whisk / mixer and gradually add the remaining flour and beat thoroughly again.
Next, you should cover the bowl, having previously left it in a warm place, with plastic wrap. To make the prepared dough rise faster, you can cover it with a warm blanket over the plastic wrap. We leave for 1 hour.
The dough should become sticky, so I advise you to spread oil on your hands so that the dough does not stick to them. Sprinkle flour on the cutting board. Take a piece of dough about the size of a golf ball and roll it out on a cutting board. Now you need to put 2-3 tablespoons of the filling.
Next, you need to glue the dough on both sides. Thoroughly roll it in flour, roll it around the board: the seam should stick well. We do all this with the remaining dough and filling.
Next, heat the pan with enough oil. We put our pies on the frying pan with the seam down, only after that you can fry the other side.
After cooking, put our pies on a large plate, which is covered with a paper towel so that it is saturated with excess oil.
Boiled potato salad
Delicious and appetizing salad. This dish as a side dish will go well with both fish and meat dishes. Or it can also be used as an appetizer. You decide!
Ingredients:
- potatoes – 1 kg.
- eggs – 2 pcs.
- mayonnaise – 0,5 tbsp.
- apple cider vinegar – 1 tbsp l.
- ground black pepper – 1 pinch
- celery – 0,5 pcs.
- red onion – 0,5 pcs.
- salt – optional.
First you need to peel the potatoes. Cut into small pieces and cook. When boiling, you need to salt the water. Cook the potatoes for about 10 minutes.
Simultaneously with the potatoes, set the eggs for cooking, also for 10 minutes. Cook eggs hard-boiled. Chop celery and onion finely. Pour all this with apple cider vinegar, pepper and mix well.
Next, cool our boiled potatoes and eggs a little. Then chop finely.
Now you can mix all our ingredients and … What to do? Right! Serve!
Chicken casserole with potatoes
An original minced chicken dish with potato wedges. Looks creative, but tastes … delicious! I am sure your friends and family will appreciate this dish … and, of course, your culinary talent!
Ingredients:
- minced chicken – 700 gr.
- eggs – 2 pcs.
- onions – 2 pcs.
- cream – 2 tbsp. l.
- potatoes – 3 pcs.
- butter – 30 gr.
- ham – 150 gr.
- semolina – 2-3 tbsp. l.
- salt – 1-1,5 tsp
- ground black pepper – 2-3 splinters
- dill, parsley – 50 gr.
- garlic – 4-5 cloves
First, wash the potatoes thoroughly and cook until half cooked. Peel and cut into long slices.
Next, fry our slices in butter. Peel the onion and garlic. We twist the onion in a meat grinder, and chop the garlic.
Take the ham and cut it into small cubes. We wash our dill with parsley, dry it, and chop finely.
Take minced chicken, add onion with garlic, eggs, sour cream, dill with parsley, ham cubes, semolina and spices. Put in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Take a dish for our casserole, grease it with oil, put half of the minced meat on it. Put potato wedges in the center. We cover all this with the second half of the minced meat.
Now we need to cover our form with minced meat with foil. Then we put it in the oven and wait for about 30-40 minutes. The oven temperature should be at 180 degrees. In order to give the casserole to acquire a blush, 10-15 minutes before cooking, you need to remove the foil.
After cooking, all that remains is to cut and that’s it, the dish is ready!
Baked potatoes in a sleeve
First you need to wash and peel our potatoes; if the potatoes are young, wash them thoroughly with a brush. Cut large potatoes into slices, do not touch small ones.
We put everything in one bowl, add salt / pepper to taste.
Peel and finely chop the garlic, add it to the potatoes. Add oil, mix everything well.
And the final touch. We put our potatoes in a baking sleeve, and, closing on both sides, put them in the oven and wait 1 hour or less (depending on the power of the oven).
Pizza with potatoes and sausage
Easy to prepare and delicious pizza.
Ingredients:
- flour – 1,5 cups
- baking powder – 1 tsp.
- water – 100 ml.
- olive oil – 4 tbsp. l.
- sausage – 50 gr.
- boiled potatoes – 2-3 pcs. (can be in uniforms)
- tomato puree – 5-6 tbsp. l.
- cheese – 80 gr.
- ground black pepper – to taste
- salt – to taste
- rosemary – to taste
First, we need to prepare the dough. Sifted flour should be mixed with baking powder. Pour in water, add olive oil. Knead the dough.
We turn on the oven at 190 degrees. Cover the baking sheet with parchment paper. We spread our rolled dough on a baking sheet. Lubricate the dough layer with tomato puree. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
Cut the potatoes into small slices and place on a pizza base. Salt, pepper, sprinkle with chopped rosemary.
Thinly chop the sausage and spread across the boiled potatoes.
All that’s left is to bake our pizza. We put our pizza in the oven, wait 20 minutes, set the temperature to 190 degrees.
