Chinese woman Iwen Hao grew up in a family running a potato business – Landun Xumei Foods. The company was engaged in the production of potatoes – from growing to packaging.

And since childhood, the girl used potatoes not only for their intended purpose, as food, but also as a skin care product. She brightened the skin with potato tubers, got rid of bruises and fought nourishment of the skin using the most common raw potatoes.

And when Ewen grew up, graduated from the University of Chicago Business School and spent some time managing Landun Xumei Foods, she came up with a new direction for the company – cosmetics.

Ewen has developed a line of potato cosmetics under the Pototaly brand. Pototaly cosmetic products are 100% organic and made from natural ingredients. What’s more, even cosmetics packaging is made from recycled potato waste.

It is noteworthy that Ewen intends to transfer 5% of the profits of the Pototaly brand to charitable programs that fund rural education and protect the rights of women.

How to use potatoes for skin beauty

The simplest recipe is to grate peeled and raw potatoes on the finest grater, and apply this mass on your face for 10-15 minutes. And if your skin is very dry and even flaky, add another 1-2 tsp. olive oil.

Also, peeled potatoes can be simply cut into circles of medium thickness, which are applied to the face. This potato mask perfectly tones and refreshes the skin, helping to relieve irritation.

For sensitive skin, boiled potatoes can also be used, which nourishes and softens irritated and flaky skin. To prepare the mask, boil 1 medium-sized potato in a jacket, then peel it and crush it into puree. When the puree has cooled down a little, but remains a little warm, apply it on your face, and rinse after 12-15 minutes.

Or try this mashed potato mask for sensitive skin. For this, to 1 tbsp. l. slightly warm puree (prepare it exactly as described in the recipe above) add 1 tbsp. l. milk, and 1 tsp. olive oil. Stir everything well, and apply the resulting mass on your face for 15 minutes.

What else you can mix with mashed potatoes for sensitive skin is the egg yolk. For 1 raw egg yolk – about 1,5-2 tbsp. l. mashed potatoes. This mask will have a wonderful nourishing and moisturizing effect.

Be healthy!
