Porphyria Dossa

Syn .: Lead porphyria.

Def .: A very rare autosomal recessive form of porphyria with δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydrogenesis defect manifested by elevated urine δ-aminolevulinic acid levels and increased urine and faecal porphyrins. There are no skin symptoms. Neurological and abdominal symptoms may be present.

Epid .: It accompanies vitiligo, it can appear as hair regrowth in alopecia areata, after injuries or after X-ray irradiation.

Loc .: The lesions may be focal or scattered within the scalp and pigmented nevi.

Clinical: An area of ​​hair that clearly differs in color from the surrounding area. Hair, as a rule, is light, white. In the case of regrowths after X-ray irradiation, the hair may be darker than the original color.

DR: Natural graying.
