porous skin

Porous can be called the skin of any person, because everyone has pores. Moreover, they are about the same number. Size matters – so let’s talk about what to do if the pores are enlarged.

Characteristics of porous skin

Porous skin is called with enlarged pores. Sometimes you can hear a rather extreme folk definition of this problem – “orange peel on the face.” That’s what you don’t wish your enemy, given that the “orange peel” is usually diagnosed anywhere, but not on the face, and is called cellulite.

Manifestations

  • Uneven microrelief of the face.

  • Dullness of the skin.

  • Looseness of the skin.

  • General lethargy of the epidermis.

Localization

Most often, loose and porous skin becomes in the area:

  • the nose;

  • T-zones in general.

This “geography” is explained by the fact that the sebaceous ducts are most concentrated in the T-zone. But the whole face is also porous.

Causes

What is the cause of such a problem as porous facial skin?

Physiological factors

  • Oily and very oily skin. Large pores are an attribute of dense skin. Obviously, the thicker the skin, the longer the mouths of the hair follicles and the more active the sebaceous glands that are attached to them. Due to the large volume of sebum produced, the sebaceous ducts and, accordingly, the pores become wider.

  • Acne. The abundance of large black dots and acne indicates clogged pores. Under the pressure of oxidized sebum, and then the waste products of bacteria, they become wider.

  • Hereditary predisposition. Pore size, like skin type, is often genetically determined. Sometimes the pores become too wide, and the face is bumpy due to certain skin diseases (sebocyte hyperplasia, follicular hyperkeratosis, rosacea, etc.). This applies to both women and men.

  • Age. As skin ages, it loses elasticity, becomes more flabby, stretches, and pores become more visible.

  • Vitamin deficiency. The lack of vitamins A and C, as well as some trace elements, such as iron, negatively affects the condition of the skin. One of the manifestations of beriberi is enlarged pores.

  • General diseases. Malfunctions in the work of the gastrointestinal tract or the endocrine system also quite often have a negative impact on the condition of the skin, disrupting its normal functions. An increase in fat content or, on the contrary, excessive dryness (keratosis) of the epidermis leads, among other things, to the expansion of pores.

In the case of a disease, the cosmetic approach fades into the background. First, see a doctor for treatment.

External Factors

  • Insufficient cleansing. Makeup not washed off before going to bed, mixing with sebum, actively clogs pores. Another reason lies in the thickening of the stratum corneum. If it is not exfoliated in time, dead cells also turn into debris that clogs and expands the pores. That is why, along with cleansing, periodic exfoliation is necessary.

  • Incorrectly selected funds. Use cosmetics that match your skin type. If you have oily skin, pay attention to the “non-comedogenic” label on the packaging.

  • Contacts with a polluted environment, unfavorable ecological situation. Air pollution settles on the skin and gets into the pores. To get rid of them, the skin produces more sebum – a vicious cycle.

    • Too much sun. Excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation has an adverse effect on the skin in general, including the expansion of pores.

In a metropolis, the skin is under constant stress, this is one of the factors that provoke the expansion of pores.

Salon treatments for porous skin

First of all, we must accept the fact that it is impossible to get rid of pores or radically narrow them. All the procedures listed below give a good effect, but only cosmetic and supportive.

  • Face cleaning frees the pores from impurities, which allows to reduce their diameter. However, abuse of these procedures can backfire. With age, as the skin loses its elasticity, the pores remain enlarged.

  • Chemical peeling renews the top layer of the skin, removing minor defects – the pores are less visible on the renewed skin. But in the absence of proper care, the problem will return.

  • Laser resurfacing – also leads to the renewal of the epidermis. To maintain the effect, you need competent skin care, taking into account all its features.

  • Darsonvalization usually carried out after cleaning to consolidate the effect. This revitalizing procedure tones the skin: as a result, collagen is synthesized, which has a positive effect on the characteristics of elasticity and elasticity of the skin. The higher the turgor, the less visible the pores.

If the enlarged pores are very disturbing, the beautician will help you choose the right procedures and correct the situation.

Daily care for porous skin

  • Hydration is required for all skin types. It is necessary to choose a cream taking into account the individual characteristics of yours. For porous skin, choose non-comedogenic products.

  • Be especially meticulous about the choice of decorative cosmetics. Look for the label “non-comedogenic” and give preference to products with SPF.
