Pomegranate liqueur is a drink that can give a rich sweetish aftertaste to a cocktail. Pomegranate liqueur goes well with alcoholic drinks, which are based on dry wine or champagne.
In its pure form, the product has a pronounced fruity aroma. The color of the drink is deep, ruby. The taste is described in the reviews as sweet, but with a tart aftertaste and slight sourness. The strength of pomegranate liqueur varies from 15 to 25%.
Useful properties of homemade pomegranate liqueur
The benefits of pomegranate liqueur are due to the rich vitamin composition of the main component – juice obtained from pomegranate seeds. Regular moderate consumption of the drink has the following effects on the body:
- increases hemoglobin level;
- strengthens the immune system;
- stabilizes the work of the thyroid gland;
- normalizes pressure;
- stimulates the formation of blood cells;
- strengthens the walls of blood vessels and thereby reduces the risk of developing heart and vascular diseases;
- prevents the development of tumor formations;
- improves the work of the gastrointestinal tract;
- normalizes metabolism;
- softens the symptoms of toxicosis in pregnant women;
For preventive purposes, the drink is drunk against the development of breast cancer and ovarian dysfunction. In addition, it is recommended for use in vitamin deficiency, viral infections and the presence of overweight problems.
Separately, it is worth noting that pomegranate liquor has a high content of phytoncides. This means that taking even a small amount inhibits the development of alien microflora:
- worms;
- cholera vibrio;
- tubercle bacillus, etc.
Pomegranate liqueur recipes at home
The preparation of pomegranate liqueur according to different recipes, one way or another, has a similar structure, details and flavors differ. In addition, in all cases, the rule applies – the pomegranate used to collect the grains and then squeeze the juice from them must be ripe. The following little tricks will help determine the quality of the fetus:
- The rich burgundy color of the fruit is far from an indicator of the ripeness of the pomegranate. The ripe fruit is painted in brown or light yellow tones.
- The peel of a ripe pomegranate is thin and slightly dry to the touch. Thick juicy skin is the first sign that the fruit is not yet ripe.
- If you press your thumb on the surface of a ripe pomegranate, you can hear a slight crunch of the grains. The absence of sound indicates the immaturity of the fetus.
- The top of the pomegranate, which is sometimes called the “crown”, should be open and dried.
The quality of the alcohol also matters a lot. It is not recommended to use untested moonshine for making a drink – vodka, alcohol or brandy, cognac are much more suitable for these purposes. Moonshine gives a characteristic taste and smell of cheap alcohol, which then will be difficult to remove.

Terms and conditions of storage
Pomegranate liqueur, prepared at home, retains its taste and beneficial properties for 3-5 months. In this case, a number of rules must be observed:
- The drink is stored in a cool dry place.
- Too low temperatures will also not benefit pomegranate liqueur – it cannot be stored in the refrigerator, especially in the freezer.
- The container in which the liquor is stored must be hermetically sealed.

Conclusion
Pomegranate liqueur is used both in pure form and in cocktails. For example, 1-2 tablespoons of liquor is added to champagne, tonic or fruit juice – in combination with these drinks, it acquires completely different notes, while fully preserving its beneficial qualities.
